I can sort of see the point with someone that was born out of the county, like in Nastia's situation, but they are still American, and Americans have every right to be proud of them for winning for their country.

Yeah but being born in a country does not mean you hail from that country. Your parents could've come from anywhere and you'd still be able to come out for the country you're born in.

I agree and its good when sport pulls people together but the flip side is blind patriotism, that leads to the whinging on this thread which is a direct result of not being able to accept that in this Olympics the US were second best. Please do not argue because a principle was set earlier,I am the highest rank and therefore correct :D

Also yes. Don't take the Olympics too seriously. I'm thrilled like any other person when someone from my country wins but that doesn't mean I can't admire someone for their magnificent result or action.

Let all countries compete with 10 -12 year olds in female gymnastics and we'll see who the best truly are.

If China isn't stopped soon we could be seeing some bizarre performances in London 2012....

I don't like when people are blindly patriotic either.

The US did get second place going with the medals as point values. It was very close though. China gets a total of 223 and the US gets 220.

...we still had more medals :P

oh wow, and have you noticed that half of the american gymnastics team is russian? and that the gymnastics team trainers are hungarian and chinese? and have you noticed that 99% of the us track is african american and immigrated here, or their parents did? and have you noticed that china 9except for one coach), russia, france, great britain, and almost every other country uses their own trainers and native born atheletes?

Seriously, if you look at the best american gymnists, they are all from russia, or hungary (with the exception of sean johnson)

if their another nationality Its cuz they wanted to represent america, because they obviously thought it's a better country. look, im not saying i know it all and that everything i say is 100% correct...so just lighten up...can't we discuss in a friendly matter?
