While that appears to be a strong mandate, there is no way to be sure that the votes have actually been made by the players in the 17 games affected.

our game form map blasters II, we pretty much opted to let a player win, the player who won the tournament overall, it was only fair that way

Agreed - as stated above - I voted yes because I would like the new version of the map up.

What about ending all current games, and forcing another game between the players when the 'less buggy' version of the map comes out.

I'd probably endorse Lack ending the games for us and file it under "corrupt" game...like those that sometimes randomly happen when the server goes crazy.

I'm looking forward to playing the new version, however, i am in one of the active games, and i indend on staying in that and not abortinng it as it will be the last time i can ever play that map as it is, and plus, im quite enjoying it.

edit:
The poll is rediculous.
You cannot ask everyone on the forums who visit the thread to be voting on there - aobut ending a current game - because they're most likely not in one.
I believe that if you want a poll, hold a manuel poll and make them state their game number that they're in, just so you cant get random people who are bias on the matter.

(seriously, I think that's the only way to ensure that these games end before the Mayan apocalypse in 2012)

There were no kills, people just deadbeated. No points have been transferred as of yet (since no one can eliminate the final territory of the players who have deadbeated.

I'm in favor of just ending it all. We've got a 5-way stalemate going on in the game I have with t-o-m and Albrio Shio, and though I have an advantage army-wise (I got two starting positions), it'll take forever for me to either get colluded against enough to lose, or for me to win.

How about if everyone votes in the chat for these games. PM everyone (because some may not read chat, especially in a long game like this). Give them a week to vote either yeah or nay. Maybe suggest folks use capitols and bold so the votes are easy to pick out amongst any other chat. Should not be too much hassle for Lack (or a helper) to check chat in 17 games in a week and then decide. IF it is even possible to just delete those games.

And as for the future .... I ABSOLUTELY would want a warning if a game is "not winnable". I am premium, but that doesn't mean I like to have a game go on forever, at least without warning!

I'm in the same game, I already sugested to abort the game if at least 5 of the 6 players agree with that. That was 2 rounds ago, and only 1 respond. Later today I'm gonna PM the other players cause they might didn't read the chat.
If I know the results I'll post them here.

Why cant we just keep the current active games going whilst the new map comes in?

Cos the XML is massively changed - thus causing bad things to happen - see Treasures of Galapagos.

As long as SOME of the territory names are the same, then some will be able to continue. lol

I vote that anyone currently involved in a game, gets a new game setup as soon as the new map comes out (players are added to the game automatically)

Got bugger all to do with the names... it's the indexes.

As there have been new territories added - the existing games won't have these territories - and the other territories may have been reindexed (i.e. if the territories have been added into the middle of the list and not the end)

Basically - it really wouldn't work.

What would work - is creating a different map name for it. i.e. Das Schloss v2 or something - so that the existing games carry on - and the new games stay... This will probably need to be done anyway - as the old games will have broken logs if the new XML superceeds the old XML. (The Logs are saved as indexes to territories and continents - not the names - if the XML changes the old logs change)
