You and I actually have a lot in common, just that I have a tendency to be anal about spelling and grammar. 19, a History buff and major, 2nd year in college, and hope to pass my English class (though, not a morning person, that's my problem).

Really my english class is in the morning at 8. thats my first class i actually dont mind it though. So what history intrest you most?

The Julius/Augustus Caesar era of the Roman Empire, wars, and mythology.

Good era alot of fun things happaned during that time.

Yes I find Rome's transformation from a republic to an empire quite interesting.

Have to disagree with you there. WWII while not as interesting as the Civil War and the American Revolution was kickass. And Abraham Lincoln was the best president.

Ok you should not have gone there but Abraham was the one of the worst presidents. I have a Question what did he do that was so good? could you tell me anything that he did? please just one will do if you can find anything he actually did. [-X

I'll give my opinions on where to go to read more in a later post.

This is a part of the story of the guy I call Lord Watchout ("Pwyll" in Welsh). The events take place not too far from where my Mam and Tad live today.

EPOSODE 1

Watchout was told of a hill in Arberth upon which, if you sat upon it, something interesting would happen. It might be very bad (you'd end up badly beaten) or it might be the most interesting thing that'd ever happened to you.

"I'll take my chances!" he said, and mounted the hill.

He'd not sat there long when a really hot lady rode past on a horse. Right away he was totally enamoured. He told one of his men to chase after her, find out who she was, where she was from, what she was doing on Friday night, and what her email address was.

The guy runs after her. But no matter how fast he runs, the lady gets further and further away, without appearing to hurry.

Eventually, Watchout's man has to give up, go back, and report failure.MORE IN EPISODE 2...

Hmmm...Somehow that doesn't sound like an ancient Celtic tale. I wonder why?

How rome fell from the longest ever republic to an empire with a king is very intresting. That is one of my favorit parts about the roman empire.

I am not a morning person. I am a biology/psychology buff and I know that I will pass all my classes.

Careful there lone wolf argance is a very weak point. *Hint you dont want to show your week point, wolfs are suposed to be strong animals.

It's not so much arrogance as it is just giving off a confident attitude. If I feel confident I will pass, I don't get down on myself as much for screwing up and recover more quickly. In that way it is a strong point.

By the way i corrected one word in your sentence.

He led the country through it's most dire hour. He freed slaves. He had a plan to rekindle a good relationship with the South after the war (too bad he got killed). He was a great public speaker. Now name something that would negate all these good things.

Celtic mythology gives him a magic sword called "Yellow Death".

Really? Interesting. Well Julius was probably pretty infamous in Gaul and through whatever rumors got across about him on the other side of the English C.

Very well text book lincon there. What he really did was this. Did not free the slaves congress did after the war with the admendment. ( He did however free the slaves in the soulth. However at this time the soulth was acting as there own government. Basically its the equivlant of Presdient Bush saying that all the people in london are slaves.) second point you made he lead his contry. well if you call pick alot of gernarls to lead an army and keep firing them for not secseding. Then yes he did. Oh i forgot lincon could have freed the slaves in the mid states like maryland and others. He did not because he need those states. Since he died we can not say for sure if he would of restored a good relatiionship with the south. Yes he was a great speacker, But then again so was hittler.

I'm not sure why you hate Lincoln. Lincoln led the country and he was restoring ties with the south. I've heard the plans he had and while I don't remember them well enough to repeat them they were very sound. Yes maybe congress freed the slaves but you don't think that Lincoln took part in it. He had to enforce that law after all. The general's issue was probably his weakest point, I'll agree there. Finally, Are you actually comparing Lincoln with Hitler?

Sorry i just hate him so much they people always say he was the best presdient who know nothing about him. As for his plans they were very loose on penaltys to the soulth. However saying that seeing the soulths response to the war i would say it would have failed. After all the south may have lost the war but they won during reconstruction. (beat the north pretty bad). My point is that congress alowed for blacks to vote and become repsentives and senates. Yet they never get the credit. Granted the soulth did not vote for the admentment becuase they had to rewrite there state constitutions. Before they could come back to captil hill. ( this all took place after his death) Lincon never wanted slaves to become reps and senters. And was a racist by our standers. As for inforcing the law he was failing at that because he was losing the war up until he found ulyesses s Grant. Lastly i am just saying here that lincon and Hittler were both good speakers so just cause you are a good speaker does not nesasaraly mean that you will be a good leader.

First. Ulysses. Didn't win the war by himself. Lee's mistake in Gettysburg had the big impact. Second, Lincoln was in the end able to get the troops rallied around a single goal and while he may have been a racist by our standards he was very good for the time. I don't know what you are talking about with the South reconstruction thing. The South suffered a lot during the initial Reconstruction.

You do know your past very well i will give you that. :D Yes initial they did suffuer alot however after awhile they managed to enslave the blacks agian. With 2 main things one the Jim Crow laws. sencond was the the farming that was set up after the war where former slaves did not own the land or the equpment they rented from wights. who basical took them for all they got. basically could never get out of debt. Thats how the soulth won they were still slaves just got paid then taken away. Yes lincone did rally his troops to one cause. But so did Washington at vally Forge. so did FDR doing ww2. And yes by there standers he was not racist. However most people i talk to asume he was not a raciset at all. And ulysses did not win by himself. however he did alot of good things.

Okay, I can more or less agree with you on most of those things. Looking back on it though. While Washington was charismatic, he was not a very good strategist. He was a decent leader but all he really ever did that was great was create a presidential cabinet (simply ingenius). Finally FDR would have to be my second favorite president.

Finally I think we can both agree that Robert E. Lee as great of a military leader as he was did screw up big time with Picket's Charge.

On another note, am I the only one who finds it a little funny that Grant and Lee had once fought on the same side during the Mexican-American war?
