That's because the Dems are winning this debate, and I am a Republican!

There is no way your republican... 10bucks says your voting Obama

There's a difference between always voting party lines and having general sentiments that lean more towards the right than the left. He's probably writing in Ron Paul.

Chris Matthews just made a good point that Palin made out she wasn't going to follow the rules, and wasn't going to give anymore mainstream interviews, but yet she declared that she wanted MORE legislative powers for the VP!

Thoughts? Who do you guys think one?

I think Palin did better then expected, but there is no doubt Biden won.

I'll admit my bias, but I think that the commentary is giving Palin more credit than she deserves. She didn't do as bad as everyone expected, but I think it was pretty clear that Biden had the upper hand throughout.

I guess so. Is that cause for celebration? There was one awkward pause on her part, and she parroted party line throughout. I guess that can be a good thing, but she came across as so fake to me...

Meh.

The bottom line is, Republicans have no chance at this election anymore.

I GET IT, you're from Alaska... the "energy state." Congrats on not knowing your Constitution...
It was almost like she only had prepared so much...

What was up with the Biden tear? Was that not sad? I mean, I saw his son talk about it on the tonight show, so it was definitly a tragic story... but is he gonna get away with that moment of weakness?

Palin had more emotion than Biden and every once in a while I think she might have caught Biden slipping up. But Biden won.

Did you miss that moment when he choked up when talking about his wife and daughter who died in that accident?? There was more pure emotion in that second than the entire rest of the debate.

Well, the commentators after the debate had a point: Palin definitely did better than expected. She didn't utterly f*ck up.

That said, it's not saying much of a person when it's considered an accomplishment that they didn't utterly f*ck up.

Oh, and to weigh in: Biden won.

In the first half of the debate, Palin left a large number of Biden's points unaddressed, even when the moderator asked her if she had a response. Most had to do with the economy. Funny that.

In the second half, she kept up quite a bit better, but Biden still had a response for everything she put out there (much of which was about energy policy). And I'm sorry, but drilling for oil in Alaska is NOT a long-term solution or even a short term one. It's not going to end foreign dependency on oil, it's not going to save the middle class any money at all for at least 10 years, and it's certainly not enough to convince me that they will do anything about carbon emissions and greenhouse gases.

I agree. Totally rehearsed. She'd go off on a tangent with canned statements about getting the government working for the people and blah blah blah.

I feel much better about Obama as President knowing that he will be regularly looking to Biden for advice.

This is how I rate the four:

#1 Biden
#2 McCain
#3 Obama
#4 Palin

One thing that stuck out on my mind was when Biden said his government would only increase taxes on those earning over $250000 annually. Biden said that this would hurt the small businessman. Is she out of her tree? The small businessman that is earning over $250000 a year is doing pretty bloody well and can afford to chip a little more into the pot. I think she is really out of touch if she thinks the average small business owner clears anywhere close to $250000 a year.

... Yeah, the dumbass US public needs everything explained to them. Palin must have forgotten to explain to "Joe Sixpack" and the Hockey-Moms what she meant.

... Her answer was correct - increasing taxes on earners of 250K plus will hurt, but this is because more than half of small businesses in the US file taxes as individuals, not as corporations or LLC's, for "tax purposes" (or they just don't know how). Thus, jobs may be cut, costs to consumers will definitely increase, etc.. etc...

Seems to me it can be summed up as follows:

Palin: Hi, can I call you Joe?

Biden: George Bush's! George Bush's! George Bush's! George Bush's! George Bush's!
