 you can say that again. Dude loves his classic, and I think this is genuinely affecting his life.

hmmm, how many posts have you had on this topic already and you think it affecting my life? maybe it would be best if you GOT a life.

but yes, i do enjoy the classic map, that was why i joined it. the others just don't do anything for me, so what's your point?

bottom line is, that this site has been mismanaged for the last year in putting out a product that doesn't meet the standards that they try to set for themselves. remember the goat rope that was the "NEW" classic and how much fun that was before it was fixed? my point is fix it so that it works PRIOR to putting it out. it's just common sense.

I certainly was suprised when you had claimed that the other party had no life. I for one have not seen such a claim before and I am sure that he will be most hurt by it. Also I like how you used the fact that he posts online as proof for your claim. That certainly does not make you look like a hypocrite

EDIT:
WTF? My screen showed Iliad as the one making the comment... What was that all about? Sorry Iliad.. I knew that didn't look right... I even did a triple take...

Lacks leadership of this business has always sucked, and it’s incredibly evident now.

Seriously though, it's no time for contests or nitpicking. Hire a cartographer to do a map that conforms to the legal restraints and get it done soon. There are literally hundreds of dollars that go up for renewal every day, it's really no time to pussy foot around with the quagmire foundry.

Yes I said hire, as in pay someone. This is a business.

Well Lacks 'leadership' is not the question unfortunately. He is just a young man who stumbled over a reasonable way of earning a living doing very little except what he enjoys. I would not look in that direction for leadership if he was the last business owner on the planet.

Twill has shown a disturbing attitude recently. It has to be said that acting as if you are under pressure when you are under pressure, really throws your failings up in sharp relief. I have been very disappointed in Twills crumpling under extreme demands. He is, after all, meant to be the Gen Manager or some such of this site.

Having said the above, I am not surprised in the least. I have made my thoughts quite public as to the awful customer service received by those who pay on this site. Neither lack nor twill have any real idea about what they should be doing, they bounce from crisis to crisis relying on the fast diminishing goodwill of their paying public all because neither of them could organise a piss up at a brewery.

It had to be said.

The easiest and of course expensive, way to sort this out would be to do as suggested. Buy in the talent. This will not be done. Why? Because lack is incompetent when it comes to business, simple as that, so is Twill.

They will do what all people who belong to the club of mediocrity do. Dance in a circle until the storm dies down, breath a sigh of relief and wait for the next crisis to hit. I have a feeling the next time it may be cash flow.

It has been suggested that the classic map is just one map among many. Anyone who happens to have this mindset wilfully forgets just how many players play the classic map exclusively or almost exclusively. For these players (and I am not one by the way), their whole enjoyment of this site has been truly affected by what has happened to the classic map. For those players who play speed classic games for example they are probably now not playing speed classic games and therefore probably not playing at all. This is not a good situation. I would suggest that the site hire a map maker to put together a reasonable classic map that doesn't actually upset classic players, while those foundry guys can spend as long as they like making the real new one perfect. It is simply not acceptable to have that map I've been trying to play on today as the classic map for weeks or even months. This should of course be self-evident but I rather fear that it is not.

Agreed on all points. sLack and Twiddle are not leaders, though this is really no fault of their own. Some people just do not have what it takes. it is unfortunate though, that among the many mods or subservient CC users, thtey find someone who can reign in this mess.

As a business owner myself, it's quite sad to see some mismanagement and I have to restrain my self from wanting to jump in there and sort it out, but I have already invested enough of my free time as is.

I hear you.....

I do think that we have the talent to get this done, and done quickly. But who in the foundry really has the time, Andy? I really wouldn't like to see anyone being hired out, but paying someone from within, Andy, is a good solution. Certianly Andy, someone would make the time to finish it up quickly, Andy, if there was some financial motovation Andy.

Every time I've been there my feedback has been deemed useless and I've been kicked out. Make up your damn mind!

So i reckon we could have a new Replacement map in 2 probably 3 months realistically.

In the meantime, as already said, there needs to be a better temporary map made urgently, in the next couple of days (something which could go live on Monday perhaps?).
Nothing fancy .. just something with basic territories which touch; a map which is not like trying to solve a complex puzzle each time you want to make an attack.

What's wrong with the shapes map? It seems fine to me - only issue I have with it is that the numbering of the territories seems kind of arbitrary.

I reckon that would be terrible for us, being perfectly honest. the fact that this is a cottage businness has its down-points but they are far outweighed by the up. (well.. outweighed anyway)

Lack just needs to change the Classic...
I agree that should have been done before but there was a friggin revolution last time they changed the density of the bloody troop circles!

In part we are victims of our successful protest last time and we are also the victims of Lacks weakness; in that he tries to appease our demands, perhaps to the point of destruction. (Although bad site communication did not help us)

Imagine how easy it would have been for Lack to pre-empt this copyright issue and change the Classic map before he was forced to...

...Actually we do not need to imagine... we hung him out to dry.. we hung the foundry out to dry .. we got our way! (Although bad site communication certainly did not help)

Agreed, they should've learned by their mistakes in site communication for this time but what could they honestly tell us?
"We are taking down the map but we are not sure what we can legally replace it with, so here is a Molecule!"
heh all they would've had was a few more days abuse for the Canadian Thanks Giving period... (someone make a note of the date and we'll get the bastards next year!)

I'm more pissed off than the next man but if we want this site to survive and get better, they really need to get this one right.
If they leave enough trace of the Hasbro map to enable the suspension of the site, we lose!
Of course if they completely remove all traces that it is a world map, we also lose!

It is a very tough balancing act to pull-off successfully.
One thing is certain: when we do eventually get the correct information, we imminently require some very decisive leadership, deserving of our support.

Back on topic, there will be a Foundry revamp of classic coming soon - and I'm eager to see it done as quickly as possible, without the months of delay that is usually associated with things over there.

We're still working off limited information about what is/isn't going to be allowed, although I expect there will be an announcement of some description sooner rather than later ;-)

take it how you want it mate .. i am just not sure what axe you have to grind.

Are you seriously saying: that there is no legal threat from Hasbro regarding map copyright; That Lack so wanted to make a superficial change to his flagship map, that he faked the threat of legal action; caused the crash of his site; put up the molecular representation of dog faeces in its place; called for a complete communication black-out, which threatened to further alienate his customers?

Are you seriously saying that or are you just trying to create a little MO diagram of faeces yourself?

We all know very little about this. It's been less than a day since the maps were changed, and the upper management is probably still figuring things out. We aren't actually part of the company, we're its customers -- which means that we won't hear anything until the issue is settled.

Imagine you ran a department store and this many people came in demanding information as to why you have no batteries on the shelf or something.

I would at least try to lie to them to shut them up. Know what I'm saying?
I'm seriously wondering If the management even knows why they have no batteries... Not to judge them or anything cauze this has to suck for them.
