This is why a 'serious business' forum is needed.

Keep a lightly moderated chat forum for the spam/letting off steam/chit-chat and have a more heavily moderated place for those who want a coherent continuing disscussion without the interruptions.

I can't believe it's not already in place tbh .

I think the mods don't want a spam forum at all... they'd prefer off-topics to be only serious business. I don't mind the silly stuff in the slightest, and you know I often participate. I just was disappointed that, when we just got the forum back, and in the middle of the whole classic craziness, the crowd opted to only do the silly stuff. I was disappointed in the lack of interesting threads.

Excellent idea, but then again, i kind of like the occasional lightness inserted into a serious thread. If you separate the 2 completely, you'll have one forum that's too serious and therefore boring, and another forum that's too lightheaded - also boring.

I found the moderating a lot more balanced when twildo was on vacation. Go figure.
