i think that is a reasonable and uncontroversial solution... who's with me?

Well, I really don't see that happening until the revamps are in place. There are hundreds upon hundreds of games going on, on those particular maps, are there would be even more unhappy people if all those games (that do not get finished) were just deleted. The Foundry will get a new map up as soon as they can, we just have to be more patient. They also had no forewarning of this, we should be extremely grateful at their efforts!!

5) I agree that InsomniaRed is good looking, although I don't think that's a very relevant topic here. (Fun to mention though)

On your point 3 - that's got to be bullshit. They're dice. That's the noun. It can't be claimed under copyright. That's like saying you can't use the word 'automobile' because Ford makes automobiles.

On your point 4 - Yes, I think there's a lot of support here. But the longer things go on without any official word, the harder it becomes.

On your point 5 - No, it's not relevant, but it is true.

hehe well i was kidding, as it was all that was left to me in the circumstance of Dakkys extraordinary proposal. And they were pulling your leg about your answer being like a government PR officer, giving the party line, over a gas-explosion in an orphanage ... taking one for the team in lieu of promotion later ;)

I think we can all agree that things are a lot harder on them at the moment than us. The community is just impatient. I'm sure there are a ton of things being worked on at the moment and we just need to stay positive and try not to make things harder by complaining and such. I think everyone has calmed a bit, which is good. Patience is the key. We can still play our games! We can still be on the forums, in the Chat. Conquer Club is still running!!

While understanding the changes in the classic map have to do with NOT GETTING SUED or CLOSED DOWN.....c'mon..."spoils" ? how about something like "resupply" that isn't lame like "spoils" ????

Maybe a government NBC stylized map could be used {that's Nuke -Bio- Chem warfare for you civilians}that has angled boundaries. ANYTHING is better {Ithink} than what is displayed now...

Well, had you bothered to read the threads made about this, the change is temporary and quick fix. There are several threads in the foundry for a revamp, and the change was necessary to avoid legal issues.

Everyone deserves their moment of blind fury Peon... he just saw the map and is probably still cross-eyed.

but yes as Peon says, the site is working on this .. we are waiting to find-out what is to happen by way of a replacement for the replacement.. and possibly a replacement for that. i hope that's clearer for you ; )

wow... maybe you should have checked any of the multiple threads explaining what is going on, and how a temporary map is going up in the place of the current 2 changes, and how there is a competition for a new classic and middle earth map. furthermore, i hated the classic map, and think it was one of the weakest maps on the entire site. i enjoyed the other 98 far more. however, i am looking forward to helping with the creation of the new map, and possibly ending up with a map i will actually enjoy playing. if i were you, i would just go back and edit my post to say nothing, because you look like an absolute idiot with no perception of what is going on. enjoy finding another site that is 1/16th as good as CC, because they don't exist. and by the way, it is $25 now (another astonishing change that happened right under your nose). i am tired of people bashing lack, twill, the mods and the site over this. it is going to be better than before, and you just have to be patient. the black jesus has spoken...-0

Actually, there is no thread that explains what is going on. At this point everything is mere speculation as to why the changes were made.

This map is horrible. You guys just need to change the name of the map. The classic map has been changed so much that it no longer resembles the classic map. Just re-name it, this map doesn't deserve the classic map title.

I still kind find it strange that this would cause people to not renew their membership. the gameplay is all the same. yea the image blows but you're playing the same game. you don't play to look at the way africa was drawn.

oh, you mean that thread stickied at the top of the forum that twill put up isn't good enough for you? the one were this is stated:
Twill wrote:Hey everybody.

There's been a lot of activity on the changes we made yesterday. A lot of upset people (myself included) and a lot of questions. Let me do my best to address those concerns from what I know:

1) The maps are fugly. Yes, we know they are. I personally agree with you all on that point, but we had to change them to avoid potential copyright issues. Andydufresne, and Oaktown along with at least one or two users have already begun work on a revamp contest to find someone to come up with something better. We're hoping it goes up soon so we can get back to something more playable.

2) <so and so> must DIE! - no, they must not. Please do not attempt to arrange any sort of lynch mobs, class action law suits, consumer boycots or intestinal stranglings. These will accomplish nothing other than to piss off more people which wont solve anything for anyone, and trying to strangle someone may just make things worse - we don't want murder on our hands Please let us handle any issues that are related to this.

3) Communication SUCKS, I'm leaving, you blow, how dare you, I want a refund - these are all fair criticisms and we are truly sorry that this panned out the way it did but again, it was something we did to avoid potential issues. All I ask is that if you have a specific complaint or suggestion please try to contact me. My inbox it flooding right now, but I will try to get to all of your concerns and address them as best as I can as soon as I can.

4) To those of you who have sent us best wishes, thank you. I wish I could thank you all personally because they mean a lot to us. I can only hope that these changes aren't too onerous and that we can continue to offer you a great game and an enjoyable site.

I know that this doesn't fix everything, but we are going to be taking steps to make things less ugly and messy. This thread is moving fairly quickly so please quote this message once every couple of pages so that future readers can keep up to date. I'm trying to read all the posts and am PMing several people to address their concerns at a pace it can be followed, but there are a lot to get through

Hang in there folks, pretty maps are hopefully coming
Twill

yeah, there is absolutely ZERO info out there, ZERO... maybe if people would actually look for answers instead of just complaining, some of these threads would not be created...-0

hehe, well Ed .. i agree with the part about people being rash, regards renewing membership. As a foundry regular however, you know better than to think that the maps graphics are completely unimportant..

For me this is a very specific case and i genuinely can not process the new map! That is a psychological block for sure and i would actually find it easier if it were a 'new' map with no preconception. It is not and i would play it less if it were; for similar but not exactly the same reason i do not play the Rail maps, i like them but they are less accessible than landmass maps.

I know the original Classic image so intimately that i can play it with a short-hand version of cogitative analysis. The new one, theoretically, is the same but it bears no visual comparison. The gestalt way i use known visual markers to plan and interpret troop variations is absent. I am lost in a familiar contradiction and a land i used to be able to relax in has disintegrated.

Hopefully this will not be for long.
