ain't is a word...it isn't proper, but it's a word...observative may not be proper, but it's a word... i'm all for pushing the borders...i just hate words spelled incorrectly...if i were made mod, i would have to spellcheck the entire forum... (*insert evil laugh here*)

I did a google search and found it come up in quite a few reputable sources... So while I now acknowledge existance the word observative, I find myself somewhat irritated that we have a synonym for observant that is, esentially the same word.
It's not a word I would ever use, as you mentioned observant is the standard form.
I already had a funny feeling about the word and did a quick check on dictionary.com to see if it had any results before you posted. It did, so i copied it from there. I just checked my hardback Uber-dictionary and, surprise surprise, it isn't there.
hmm...not to be too picky (hmm) but did i just get like 5 or so posts questioning the correctness of a word lmao...now that is funny...what does that say about us? I guess that's what I get for being proper (most of the time...)
I think I'm going to start being incorrect more often so y'all will go crazy.

And I did a google search and came up with websites like Merriam-Webster and Webster's. I'd have to check the 80,000 page Oxford English Dictionary at home to be sure, but our language is already so full of contradictions and exceptions that I wouldn't be any more surprised to find it than not...
