I'll just add another "way to go guys! they look great!" here instead of my analysis of a certain cartographers map in development in comparison to one of the maps presented in this competition

bryguy hasn't finished a map yet... famine is in... final forge? vacation? i forget, but i'm looking forward to that one bry...RjBeals wrote:whitestazn88 wrote:[Edited to remove bias based on "knowing" the mapmaker of a certain entry.]

Nice (deleted) post though White - Or should I say... Detective.
You think you know huh... I wish I could say.. O how I wish.
(edit) Oh, I voted for number-1. Is it brygry or wca - i forget, but it's got my vote.
My guesses exactly. And I voted for 4, too. I'll write up a bit on how each can be improved shortly.samuelc812 wrote:I voted for Number 4![]()
My guesses
1. wcaclimbing
2. Mibi
3. oaktown
4. RjBeals
I wish I had more time to finish my entry.....I don't think mibi made map #2. With his impressive graphics for other maps, such as Trojan War, I would expect graphics more trojan war-ish from him, drawn with the style he has used before. I don't think he would use a tutorial for inspiration on how to create realistic terrain, because he has already showed that he has excellent realism skills from Trojan War. I wouldn't expect him to switch his style from what he had with trojan war to something so different. So I think it was someone else. I may be wrong, though. that wouldn't surprise me either.

That does not really make sense. Basically you are saying that anyone who uses a tutorial is not "doing" real work. SO anyone who uses mibi's tutorial is not really doing work either? Only the original artist of a concept can claim that it is his/her work.wcaclimbing wrote:my only guess is RJ for #4.
And that mibi did NOT do number two. I would expect him to draw his own terrain, like he did for Trojan War, not use a tutorial.

I think I worded what I said wrong, I didn't mean it as an insult, if thats what it sounded like.WidowMakers wrote:That does not really make sense. Basically I am saying a tutorial is not bad. It was not copied (it appears) just followed to get the same effect. How many tutorials or techniques have you developed yourself wca?

yea it's definitely deserves more than 5% of the vote. the bricks definitely are a nice touch which I think get lost unless you look at it closely but you don't want them sticking out any more than they do. it's a nice touch but unfortunately it's one that won't help you get votes just kudos.e_i_pi wrote:I am thoroughly surprised with the lack of votes. Sure, the map does not have that eye-popping juju, but it's absolutely beautiful in it's simplicity and workmanship. I really have no idea how it can be improved upon - there are maps in play that don't hold a candle to this one.
