Separate Password

Postby Megadeth666 on Thu Jan 01, 2009 6:36 am

Concise description:
  • Have a separate password just to take turns only

Specifics:
  • If you need someone to babysit your account, they can ONLY take your turns for you, and CANNOT access your mail, or any other personal stuff

Have it automatically state in chat that their is a babysitter

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • People won't have to worry about having strangers babysit there account, and have them read your mail, or see who you mail, etc.

Everyone will know if and who is babysitting

  • Add or delete people from your foes list

Sounds logical, this would prevent a lot of sitting abuse.

I think that an account sitting system would be best, where you could give someone permission to account sit, one game, a few games, or all games. They would only be able to access your games, and not forums or anything. (the reason someone might want a sitter for only one game is if they were partnering with this person in the game, and didn't want their sitter to play that game)

I believe this would be a good addition as well as "Take your deadbeat partners turn for them"

That's an ok idea, however, that means other people can access your games at any time. Should move towards the Tribal Wars functionality, where you can give access to your games and then take it away whenever you want.

I really like the teammate idea, how would that work for trips and quads, any teammate?

Any teammate, or the teammate you assign

Right, you would be able to give someone access to play selected games, and would be able to remove access at any time as well. (and yes, I did get part of the idea from TW)

You still have the problem of joining tournament games. Those need to be joined while people are away.

When the new tournament system comes out, there will be an "Auto Join games from _____ Tournament"

like sign in player :soka
password:password/ not needed if only a sub/babysitter
baby sitter password-player:sub one

then you can only pick 2 baby sitters
and it automaticly list the babysitters id in game chat

You could have it say "only work for the next 3 days before reset" as well or something.

I don't like the thing about having to login again, I think you should just have their games under a "Games Sitting for ______" tab.
I think you should be able to have as many sitters as you want. (unless you mean only two can be "active" at a time, I agree with that)

Looks like some good feedback, I am not sure how hard it would be for lack to make this work?

to take this under control is easy. there might be an activate controll button the user may press on then babysitter password can be used. If it is not active, babysitter pass is no more active then the one who owns that babysitter pass will not be able to login. THis much easy :ugeek:

Sometimes it is necessary for a babysitter to access your mail though, if you get sent tourney games and that sort of thing.

I do agree with limiting the access that a babysitter has so that they can't use the forums while on your account.

How about you try your best to play your turns, but if shit happens then you may have to miss. Thats what I do... never had a babysitter, ever.

Very good point.....maybe if when, the babysitter is logged on, (which notifies people it is a babysitter and the ip changes), the mail will be redirected to that account 8-[ ......or just have access to tourney mail

Tourney mail isnt different from normal mail. And I would never want my mail to be redirected to someone else.

yes I know that, although if a person needs a sitter that long, and is involved in tourneys...the organizer should be advised where to send the mail. In my suggestion , hopefully  , if you assign a sitter, and use a separate password, it will automatically inform others that it is in fact a sitter =D>
