NYC Map

Postby amandahugandkiss on Tue Feb 28, 2006 5:31 pm

a New York map would be cool, the 5 boroughs could be continents, I don't know how to make maps, so if anyone likes this idea try to make the map...

I'm originally from NY, so I was thinking about doing a NYC map. After I'm finished with the Roman Empire Map, I think I'll get on the NYC one.

The only reason I said I didn't know how to make maps is because I don't, I don't want to make it look like shit, and If I made it, it would

don't say that, have you seen my second version of the canada map? (the first one was even worst, i just can't find it)

Thats not very pretty. But its a start. Just start of with something. I don't have much art talent, I just worked for very long on that map. You just take an existing map and trace it out to your map. If you want to see the final version of this map, it should be up to play on soon.

Don't say you can't without trying, at least give it a shot.

hey all,
so i've been working on a NYC map that is almost 50% done (its been monochromed, the initial borders and connections are almost finished, and i'm also working on the bonus situation. i'll probably finish these things today and get the first draft up sometime tonight. i've got time to work on the physical map, but i have no experience with XML or coding of any kind. if i finish the map, can someone else do the xml? i'm all about the joint effort.

No coding is involved in the xml, you just copy/paste the names and location of your coutries over the existing ones. If you know how to do text editing, and have a couple of hours to figure out the exact position for all the numbers, you wont have any problem.

All for it I'll do it. But it takes a while either way I'll do it for you. Just PM me the website you uploaded from i save it and everything but do tell me the sizes of the maps as it will take a while for it all and a little help will be required.

You really shouldn't use Paint. There are so many programs out there that make a quality image so much easier to acheive. Getting something that came out of Paint to look professional is more trouble than it's worth.

Download a demo of Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. The latter gives you a 30-day full-featured trial. Trust me. You'll wonder why you ever wasted your time with Paint in the first place.

Dude, this was sitting on one of the last pages there was no point to this … the thread was before the current live map was even made … so I'm stopping this (gotta say idiotic) conversation here.
