After we get this group up and running, I will be able to devote most of my time to graphics. That is why I started The Map Factory. If this enterprise is successful, I believe that we will soon be churning out the best maps CC has ever seen.

...Fingers crossed. :P

Sorry, I just don't see what this will accomplish. You still need the stamps to get quenched, still need to progress through the Foundry and its system to go live, so you'll just start with a better (?) draft to stick in the Drafting Room. If you're going to make maps by committee, then why don't you just stay with the Foundry, which has been around since CC and has been proven to make great quality maps, make a map as a group via MSN, or AIM, or PM, or whatever, and just submit it the regular way. What you're doing now is just what that same group could do privately, and bring the members into the Foundry to contribute to maps that will go through the same process yours will. All you're really doing is making a group effort on something that will still have to start from the beginning, as well as keeping people who obviously want to make maps or help out of the Foundry, where they could help more than just your maps.
Look, I don't want to really deter you away from this, just to edit your goal. I think it'd be better for everyone if you just brought the members of this (to-be?) group into the Foundry to help, as well as making your maps as well. Your going about this as if you own the place, and the attitude is well … brings much to be desired. It's not that I have a real problem with the group, just what you want to do, what you think will happen, and the way you're going about it.

What is threatening you so much. You have made many comments about our group. they were already answered in this thread. You are only making yourself look the fool.

We have already received more than one positive response from the mods. So please go away. Take it up with them if you wish, but do it elsewhere please. :P

Re: The Map Factory

So here we have Rocketry's four or five ideas for a not-geographical CC map:

  • Music genres - Territories would be subgenres (or perhaps even defining bands/artists) and 'continents' would be genres e.g. Rock, Jazz, Reggae etc. Related subgenres would link up. For example blues would link to folk-rock and Rock & Rolll. Heavy metal would branch off. Rock would link to Prog and metal would link to both prog and classical. Punk would only get to prog by going back through rock. Blues would also have branched off to Jazz and also link to ragtime and then lead to swing followed by bebop. The point it it would be a WEB, not a timeline.

Ok so thats the first one. More to follow when I have more time! Please feedback!

Thanks, Rocket.

Finnaly i thought of an idea :P

1/4

Calender it's a big game where you can attack different dates of the year and different events that happen on those days would give certain effects such as owning christmas would give +2 bonus and maybe owning aprils fools day or give it a special effect. The different months would be continents.

more to come will be put on when thought of

Good idea. There was a thread somewhere about rock artists … you could expand that and maybe incorporate them.

And 'continents' would be months? seasons? Seasons would be good. Wait - could it be a WORLD calender? Include things like chinese new year, lent, ramadan... fesitvals from all different cultures. THEN continents could be cultures. SO if you own EVERYTHING christian you get a bonus... EVERYTHING asian, EVERYTHING islamic...

Oh and april fools should be like -4 or something!

Non geograpical idea 2:

  • Darwin's tree of life - Picture this: A huge tree - a striking sillouhette against an evening sky. At the bottom of the tree there are roots - single celled organisms and Trilobites and stuff. Prehistoric creatures! Each one is a territory and if you own them all you get a decent bonus. Travelling up the trunk there are fish, anphibians, reptiles, dinosaurs, mammals etc. I think thats roughly the right order! Then, branching off, there are types of animal. So from mammals we can follow the route to monkeys, Neanderthals, Homo Sapians and finally, Humans! All around the top or the tree are modern creatures. The tree shows evolution layed out nice and simply. It wouldnt cover every animal - just a few intersting ones or animals that make good examples of evolution in each set of creatures in the aninmal kingdom. The dinosaur branch needs to look burnt off! A 'continent' would be a complete section EG: ALL birds or ALL mamals or ALL reptiles. A timescale up the side would be good as well.

More to come, Please feedback!

1) pork, i wanted into this group cuz i want to make maps but don't have the inspiration for ideas. My only idea this far is a bowling alley, which might work but might just be lopsided and unbalanced.

2) if you guys are doing Darwin's tree, I'm leaving the group without any need for response to the above post. i HATE evolution. it is a poison being fed to students in public schools as fact despite a few obvious problems with the whole thing. And yet it is still referred to as a theory, which is an admission that there is no way to prove absolutely that it occurred. Because it is force-fed as a state religion, most of the USA believes that there is some kind of scientific evidence for macro evolution. I have not posted on any of the standing threads with such debates because i don't want to argue with anyone about this, but i will NOT have my name, or the signature of a group i am associated with in any way attached to anything that supports this obnoxious "theory".

Most of the "maps"are overview perspectives. A new vertical or 3D looking map would be cool.
