They actually have always used colors instead of infantry, troop, cannon. It just makes it easier and they don't have to load a picture next to each card.4myGod wrote: I notice:

I guess you must have played a ton of Risk before joining the site. You've manages to win your first 3 games here. And they've all been 4 players! Nice!4myGod wrote:I notice a lot of things on this site that make me wonder... Was there some sort of law suit? or did Hasbro or Risk or whatever message the owner?

What happened? and how much of this is because of copyright or just being creative. Is this just because you charge money? I notice another site out there not associated with risk, but it has all the regular risk stuff... like... it looks like they took a picture of the board it's so exact lol.
How much ConquerClub make is a peddle compared to Hasbro. However much lack could offer for rights to use the classic map would definetly not be enought.azezzo wrote:really curious as to just how much convincing it would take to get hasbro to let c.c. use the classic map. By convincing i mean money. This should be looked into, I for 1 would be happy to pay to be able to play the classic map. I realize that some people could care less about it, but perhaps lackattack could have an ultrapremium membership, who pay more to play that map.

You very well may be right, but its still worth looking into, hasbro may very well be interested as another form of revenue in a bad economy. It would not necesarrily detract customers from hasbro, I play here at C.C. yet i own the board game. Perhaps they would view it as increasing its market share, similarly to how napster shares music rights. rather than being negative and saying it would never work, that hasbro would never consider it, its worth investigating.gimil wrote:How much ConquerClub make is a peddle compared to Hasbro. Hasbro makes millions each year! (don't know the numbers off the top of my head) but I know for a fact that CC does not make any money anywhere near the millions. Even if every person currently active on the scoreboard had premium that would barely make half a million dollars.azezzo wrote:You very well may be right, but its still worth looking into, hasbro may very well be interested as another form of revenue in a bad economy. Gimil, stay out of public relations you are a terrible salesman with that negativity. You dont focus on your negatives when trying to push your sales pitch on a client. Just as music groups were hesitant to allow their music to be on Napster originally, they have all seen the advantages of their music being so much more readily available to the public. There are different ways to market a product, if it takes hiring an advertising firm, or a P.R. professional, it should be looked into for the advancement of this site. I'm sure Lack would greatly appreciate it if you would actively persue new ways to increase the long term growth of this site, and thereby increasing revenues, and insuring the continued success of this site.gimil wrote:Hasbro makes millions each year! they made $19.7 million, in the first quarter of 09gimil wrote:It was probably done so they would not have to risk haveing a law suit.
I'm not being negative, I am being realistic. Lack as a sole trader with a small business who is highly, highly successful. In comparison to hasbro who conquer club is very very small. I would much rather see money being invested in more staff on this site to do coding than I would see it on getting rights for one map off of a company who's economies of scale will make it damn near impossible to get anyway.azezzo wrote: Gimil, stay out of public relations you are a terrible salesman with that negativity. hasbro sues these small companies all the time, go to google and search for 'hasbro lawsuit' or 'hasbro cease desist'.4myGod wrote:Well guys I appreciate the info. Yeah, I was just curious if it was a preemptive caution to avoid a lawsuit or if there was actual a law suit or words exchanged that motivated the decision.
You have both:
http://www.riskattack.com/
and the face book application
Both of these are running the classic map, yet conquer club isn't, that's where my curiosity came from.

That's a good idea. I floated a similar one a long time ago, though I hadn't thought of the ultra-premium add-on angle.azezzo wrote:really curious as to just how much convincing it would take to get hasbro to let c.c. use the classic map.
