What the hell is Flame Wars? [Answered]

Guys, I gotta ask, this is killing me. Everyone keeps talking about bringing back flame wars or how it was a great strategy by the mods or some crap. I have no idea what it is. At first I thought it was a gametype to play, but then it sounded more like a forum game. Can someone please explain the entire situation to me surrounding flame wars?

It was a forum where people were allowed to berate others to an extreme extent. It was removed on April 1st as part of an April Fools joke, or so people thought. It was actually permanently removed.

It is simply a construct of people's mind, it never actually existed. Needy people used it to justify their extreme abuse of other consenting adults. It was as abhorrent as S and M, a fantasy, a mire of ego, twisted into a confirmation of abusive existence.

I used to quite like it.

Oh I see, so this site was started with this "flame wars" forum where people could go to let off steam and flame each other? However it was taken away?

No, it wasn't started with flame wars forum. The flaming got so abusive and obscene that the forum was started to concentrate the participants into one cesspool. Then, when they were all not looking, bam they were flamed out of existence. The absolute ultimate flame.

It wasn't there from the start IIRC but it was founded to allow people a place to vent (instead of doing it everywhere) but it was decided the positives didn't outweigh the negatives and hence it disappeared.

Too bad, we had thin-skinned posters who wanted to play with fire in the FLAME WARS forum, but got their butts kicked there. These are the same posters who now cheer it's ending.
