Though other than bisexuality being a little greedy, (i am a strong advocate of greed

) i know precisely what you mean. homophobia is pretty much accepted or at least something way down the pecking order of crimes it seems. i am sure its rebuke has far less general sympathy than even anti-racism seems to have.
Pretty much, if i was black and someone called me the n word or w/e there would be uproar, but someone call me sumin cos im bi and no one gives a shit tbh.
yeas, it is a strange one. I think that a human trait to feel more comfortable with mocking the 'limitations' which we also have.
We can not with all honesty draw upon being black to justify our bigotry if we are not in fact black and have not wrestled with the disadvantage society sometimes imbues that. (though sometimes the .."hey i'm not racist, my best mate is black" attempts to claim immunity to social convention via association)
The point is that many see Homosexuality as a choice. (personally i do not .. but neither is it so simplistic) I must qualify this by saying that i am Heterosexual, hah though i do feel qualified to comment on the finer details. Now why do people see this as a choice and why do we feel enabled to comment?
In my opinion it is because all men in particular, go through an examination of inner-most desire and proclivity. I did, social convention and 'taste' constantly forces us to re-examine our sexual status. Reaffirming it in the peer group, is as much about asserting our own orientation as it is about bringing the rest into line.
I think, uncomfortable though it may be, that the most stalwart of homophobes understand the thought process intimately enough to feel able to cast judgement.
Edit, hahah i see your post regarding my Clan mate Scott, just to say i am not asserting that he is gay based on my thesis. I am saying that all men have the potential .. and if anyone argues against this it is because they are more predisposed towards homosexuality than those with more overt acceptance of same gender sex. ; )
