The statement itself says nothing of its opinion on the OT texts, but the unnecessary juxtaposition makes it clear. The information given by the source states that the OT says these things are evil. Today, we know that these things will not get you struck by a bolt of divine lightning, to say the least, and as such they are not unusual in today's society. However, the mundaneness of these things now juxtaposed to homosexuality belittles the issue. If it really were that minor, we wouldn't be having this discussion. It's also trying to make the OT look ridiculous by simply stating that it says something so common is "an abomination". Unless of course, I missed something here like I did before.

There may be genetic factors in determining a persons sexual orientation. I haven't read the latest studies, but it has not been inarguably established. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a factor, even a big one.

But it cannot be the only one - the objects of one's sexual desire, and the odd twists and turns that(fetishes, naughty games, etc) can take are largely determined by what is around you when your sexuality is first aroused. Read Origins of the Sexual Impulse by Colin Wilson to see some interesting examples, or just consider this: straight guys a few years older than me find stockings really sexy and tights a turn-off. I think stockings and suspenders look a bit silly. And some girls like hairy guys, others (thank goodness) find that hairyness a turnoff.

People who are around people of their own sex when they first take an interest in those "special feelings down there" are far more likely to become same-sex oriented in an environment such as a single-sex boarding school. Maybe there's a tendency which is genetic which is more likely to be triggered in the right circumstances, I don't know.

But I don't on the other hand think it's simply a "choice". There are some women I find attractive, and some I don't. Some of those I don't are I guess sexy enough - they don't do it for me. If this is a choice on my part it isn't conscious. Similarly, I don't find guys sexually attractive, but I don't think that's because I've chosen not to.

Jones makes a good point on the influence of surrounding sexual influences at the time of puberty. I was confronted with homosexual suggestions by friends and aquaintances at pre-adolescent age, but didn't really recognize them as such back then. I had the opportunity to choose though, and although i didn't recognize it as homosexuality i recognized it as unnatural behavior and made the choice to reject it. If i had chose to experiment who knows?

Behaviors are developed and based on life choices. You can't develope a behavior until you at one point make the choice to initiate it. You might be born with a low testosterone count, and might be more susceptible to homosexual behavior, but a choice has to be made at one point to accept it or reject it.

lol that one didn't say anything about the 1/3 study, I saw the study in a book and google searched it, and I accidently linked that one in a new window.

And anyway, you copied one blurb from the long section of Judeo-Christian opinions on homosexuality. That was just stating things the OT said about homosexuality, and gave other things for context to show that most people don't take all of the OT literally.
The rest of the article went in depth about church opinions on gays, which you neglected to post here.
