Obviously this is a completely different situation than the situation at hand; but the context is the same (in saying there is a right and wrong way to criticize). I'm not saying public criticism is bad, in fact there are times where it's the best method...however there are right and wrong times to publically criticize (and continually attacking someone for using their best judgement to moderate a website isn't one of those times). That's just one of many ways to do something other than creating tons of threads/posts regarding what happened...use your imagination and I'm sure you'll think of another way. :)

I don't like it. Here's the thing though- I'm not going to draw arbitrary lines about which images are okay and which aren't. As long as it's not porn or personal info, then you have the right to post it, as much as I might dislike it. ;)

I much prefer public criticism of officials (yes mods are officials) over private because it is transparent. Everyone can follow the whole discussion and waffling about becomes harder if 10 people accuse one of it than if a single person says they are dissatisfied with your answers. Furthermore, if you think about it maybe you can figure out another way of posting criticism publically than the one you illustrated.

Criticizing Mods, officials and leaders is fair play. To see C.C. administrators criticizing premium posters for criticizing a decision made by a Moderator is ridiculous.

My GOD! All this so-called political correctness being pushed by way too sensitive posters and Moderators is sickening!

Religious zealots who want to punish those of us who find humor in religion, should look at the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia for examples of religion gone wild!

As far as I'm concerned, Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, Moses and other religious leaders, are just a bunch of intolerant dickheads. You don't follow their rules, you don't get to go to heaven, paradise or become something higher than say a bug. Bunch of b.s. if you ask me and open to CRITICISM and/or humor.

Go ahead and put a price on my head, but wait in line and take a number, before you take it!

I agree with you somewhat (to me it depends on the offense). Like I already said, my example was not related to what happened, but was nearly hyperbolic to show how they can be perceived. I already stated I do believe in public criticism, and yes there are many ways to publicly criticize someone; but the fact remains that there are right and wrong ways to publicly criticize someone.

Stoneham, premium membership gives no no right over freemium membership when it comes to the forum; so to say it's ridiculous to see (and I believe you meant moderators not administrators) premium posters criticized by members of TeamCC means the exact same thing to me if you were to say it about non premium posters. Just because I volunteer for the site doesn't mean I can't post my opinions. Therefore, if I find someone is being unreasonably reamed by the masses (especially a colleague) I will jump to their defense if I see fit because it isn't right. This has nothing to do with PC...you asked for new guidelines, we gave them to you, and we're enforcing them. End of story. If you don't like the guidelines then more of a protest should have been put up before they were implemented.

PS - It's best not to call religious leaders intolerant dickheads...that's a good way to test the new system, and you'll probably see the new guidelines enforced personally if you continue to do so. ;)

I tend to agree with MeDeFe on this one. Criticism of someone who you work with (whether a supervisor or supervisee) should be private, whereas criticism of a public official should be public.

Reckon buddha was a pretty tolerant guy. Actually, most of them were - one of them was chilled about being nailed up, I recall. I get your point though.

Those of you who know me know that i don't hesitate to bash a mod or two, or Lack or Andy for that matter, when they're unreasonable. I'll also put in my two cents if i figure the mod is getting a raw deal, although i do that far less frequently.

I don't think that anyone would disagree with me on the fact that Clapper is the most reasonable mod on the site. Most of them will not retract a decision as they feel that would threaten their authority. Clapper on the other hand, is quick to back off when her decisions are questioned if she honestly feels that she could have been wrong. I've been warned a few times (and banned once) by her, and i think that she honestly tries to give everyone a fair shake here.

So back the f*ck off.
