Stupid dice superstitions

Postby Georgerx7di on Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:21 pm

Ok this thread is not about whether the dice are fair. I believe they are, and yet I still do stupid little things that I think will improve them. So that's what I'm posting about; stupid quirky things we do that we think will improve our dice.

One thing I do is look where the attack dice will appear when attacking. If I look where the defending dice will be, then they will win.
Another thing I do is put my mouse on the number on the territory, (im using clickies) but slightly off the center towards the bottom right.
When I really need to win, and its like 9 v 12 (sometimes you have to do it), I auto it, but if im up, 13 v 5, then I don't auto.
If I loose two, then I wait a few seconds before attacking again. If I kill two then I attack again as quickly as possible.
Finally, the most retarded of all. I have found that saying "good luck" at the start of the game gives me better dice than saying "have fun".

So what are everyone else s ridiculous dice rituals.

One thing I will do if I lose two dice on the first roll is perform tracehack on the mysql loop feed from the palatal approximant dns, release the subnet mask on the random.org ip tunnel and blamo!.... trip sixes.

All you need are two things:

1) A large crate of chickens. ( Bunnies, or kittens will do in a pinch but preferably chickens )

2) A serrated bread knife.

You can jump 2 ranks in a week!

I was a Major once, but the wife kept giving me hell about all the bird guano in my office.

When making large attacks, if I won 2, I would click attack again as fast as I could, if I kept winning I would try to keep a steady rhythm, if I lost 2, I would stop for a few seconds before attacking again.

That's how I used to do it. Then I stopped being a superstitious moron.

Are you still superstitious? ;)
I too stare at the spot where the attacking dice will come, praying for the yellow square. Then usually I curse, stomp around then hit attack again, petulantly

No that will only get you trip fives. In order to get trip sixes you have to remember to cut of the supply of klgtyunb to your monitor's internal uendaz control zone. That my friend is the formula to trip sixes.

If I'm facing 6v3, 5v2, or 8v5, I'm almost paranoid I'm going to lose the rolls horribly, because of how many times I've done it. Countless games sunk purely because I 6v3 and double-loss twice...three straight rounds.

That's only if your monitor was made with capacitors produced by a certain company. Any other companies capacitors and it gives you the six's without the extra step. Usually the cheaper monitors are the only ones troubled by this...usually...

When I first started playing games at Conquer Club years ago, I'd always repeat a little phrase and knock on wood before every time I clicked attack/assault. I haven't done it for a while, but I think about it sometimes!

well, i don't have any real dice superstitions other than absolutely refusing to auto-attack unless the game is decided and there are only a few attacks left. however, i do firmly believe in never taking any turns before my first cup of coffee in the morning, and i make my team members adhere to the same policy..-0

I try to avoid taking turns, unless they're going to be missed, when I'm hammered... I don't know if that's a superstition or not... considering how bad I suck, taking my turns drunk might actually help :(

i always look at the defending dice, if they both have yellow square around them, i stop and wait 5 seconds..
if the first one has a yellow square around it and the second one doesnt, i stop and wait 2 seconds..
if the first one doesnt have a yellow square around it at all, i attack again immediately...

and i do the same thing with auto. if its a 9v12 auto, if its 15-5 i dont. lol.

I do something similar. If I lose two attackers, scroll back up to the map, then back down to the "attack" button before attacking again. If I beat two defenders, I immediately attack again.

Because this "worked" once, a few months ago, I have continued to do it... talk about superstitious.

Hah, people ALWAYS look for ways to control things that a out of their control Its natural. Pigeons exhibit the same behaviour interestingly - there was an experiment in which pigeons in cages were fed seeds automatically at random. The pigeons remembered what they were doing when the seed came and started to repeat that action. They started doing bizarre little dances and things. Google it. I can't remember what it was called now.

Personally I play Bob Dylan and click auto-attack in time. Works a treat.

I use Bob when playing games. I have noticed that if I offset the floaty numbers 2 pixels below their static counterparts, I get good dice against singles, but bad dice against stacks. The reverse is true when the numbers are aligned. So each turn, I spend about 75% of the time adjusting the offsets of the army numbers
