They werent terrible for stretches against Italy, though the final scoreline doesnt really end up doing them too many favors.

Also, given the current issues with Argentina, some lols should be had at that prediction.

anyway, let's hope Scotland make the play-offs and get an easier team to play. over the last few qualifiers we've had to play England and Holland in the play-off.

Your playing Brazil tommorow (if you didn't know) so it will be intresting to see how you do.

Did you see the USA get shellacked in qualifying Costa Rica? Yeah, they don't stand much chance against Brazil.

No I didn't, that's intresting they looked OK against Italy though.

Well they did win euro 2008 without breaking a sweat and are by far the best team in the world...

Well there would be no lol's if you realised their attack:
Sergio Aguero
Carlos Tevez
Lionel Messi
Diego Milito

Now try telling me they arent the most potent attacking force in the world... The first three are some of the best strikers in the world, and Diego Milito is pretty close and under rated.

Yes
No
Maybe
No- Slovenia would be a better bet here.

My upset teams:
Chile
South Africa (the hosts luck)
Ivory Coast
Russia (again) I could see them reaching the semi's with a little bit of luck

As for Argentina's attack, what about their defense?

Egypt 1 Italy 0 :D

it's only the Confederations Cup, but i don't think Italy will be to pleased about that. they have to beat Brazil to make the Semi's.

Robinho scored a good goal for Brazil, hopefully he'll be still playing for us next season.

Wow that was one of the most amazing comebacks I've seen in a long time. Congrats USA any of you intrested in football in the slightest then you must be amazed by your countires achievement today.

USA needed to win agianst Egypt and Italy to lose to Brazil and then for their to be a change in goal difference of +6 in comparison to Italy and what do you know:

USA 3-0 Egypt
Italy 0-3 Brazil

Unbelievable achievement well done =D>

It's almost predictable that colombia will not qualify, at least directly, but maybe we can achieve the playoff with a team of Concacaf (maybe Costa Rica...or Mexico)

I watched the whole USA match, flipping over occasionally to the Brazil match. Quite surprising to see them pull it off. Of course this means the USA will lose to Spain by 3 goals.

New Zealand won't make it through, they were trailing Away 1-0 to Vanuatu, and 0-0 at home at the half against Fiji and New Caledonia. Now that Australia has jumped ship on Oceania, that group is dead. I give it 10-12 years before it's amalgamated into Asia as well.

It's so annoying that our continent is easily the best, I wish we could do an Australia and hop off to another continent.

Australia had a tough battle for about 8 decades mate. Don't think that it did any good for us to be in Oceania... we had home qualifiers drawing crowds of less than 4000 people. None of our players would come back for qualifiers, so we had to play domestic players, players who wouldn't even get a spot on the bench in 2nd Division English League. We won every Oceania qualifying procedure except for one, and qualified once for the World Cup - every time we won Oceania, FIFA would say we had to play Chile, Peru, Iran, or some other team to properly qualify. The problem with this was that those teams had just played 20 or so games against top-flight opposition, while we were playing against patsies, all the while gettnig worse as a result. Moving to Asia was the best thing that happened for us. A lot of people said we wouldn't make it through - we got seeded 1st out of all of Asia, and then were the first to qualify. I applaud FIFA for their decision to put Australia in Asia, it's about bloody time!

Here's a list of my biggest "WTF's / wow's" of this tournament so far...

  • Zambia, who have never qualified for the World Cup, have the chance to do so if they can beat Algeria in their group
  • Australia, first time team in Asia, go through the final round with 20 of a possible 24 points
  • North Ireland look poised to qualify, despite being in a group of quite tough opposition
  • Norway have only scored 3 points from 5 games, currently behind even Iceland
  • Mexico may not qualify, currently being bested by Honduras
  • After a horror start, Argentina finally drag themselves into a qualifying position of 4th place
  • Chile look set to qualify, but Uruguay and Colombia are still struggling for a place

Northern Irealnd are unlikely to qualify, they will have a fight to get 2nd place and even then they need to play a play off.
Norway aren't the same side they once were and Macedonia are underrated. Norway just sit back and defend and they still only scapred a draw against us thanks to a ridonkulous miss.

It would be very strange to see Mexico who virtually have a bye into the World Cup not qualify.

As for Australia I realise you may not have had it easy, but come to Europe and you will soon find it very tough to qualify.

You don't think they'll make it? I reckon they'll get there. Their record so far is good enough for a runners-up berth

True, they aren't the team they used to be. It's hard to believe that 10 years ago they beat Brazil 2-1 in the Round 1 Group stage of the finals, and half their players were being scalped by top flight clubs in England.
It would be very strange to see Mexico who virtually have a bye into the World Cup not qualify.

True, but if Mexico don't pick up their game, they're going to have to playoff against 5th placed South America, which could be Colombia or Uruguay.
As for Australia I realise you may not have had it easy, but come to Europe and you will soon find it very tough to qualify.

I don't doubt that, but we're never coming to Europe ;) Asia is a tough enough arena for us, much better than Oceania - that continent was the worst preparation possible for the World Cup.
