The simple "Lucky Charm" version is true to "classic" play, because it still retains its original movement and borders with each "territory" or shape. If you add attacking routes and different countries, then you are no longer playing the "classic" map, but instead playing a new map. That's fine, I am all for playing a "new map" but as far as the "classic" style map goes, you have to stick with the "Lucky Charms" version.
It is quite alright after you play a few games on it, I really don't have a problem with it, as long as CC is allowed to stay up and running.
It isn't quite alright....even after a few plays. It's horrid.
The lucky charms version shouldn't
have to be stuck with. To say so shows incredible lack of vision.
That map is for total shit. I know I'm not alone when I say....I joined this site to play a game of world domination.....not connect the dots.
This one I quoted is a step in the right direction for visual appeal. With the routes and movements adjusted...it's damn near perfect.
(Well...as perfect as the classic was broken....SA should be worth more than AUSSIE...but...that's neither here nor there.)
Well, I think it is great that you are coming up with new ideas for new maps, but as I have said before (and others as well) the "classic" style map cannot be a global map at this moment, because it is basically the exact same map as "Risk" and therefore the similarities resemble each other too much, so that the integrity of "Risk" is threatened (or whatever the legal jargon is in Lack's letter from Hasbro's legal team).
Your map can change attack routes and country names, but that is not considered a "classic" map. It would be considered a
new map.
What you need to do is put your map into the Map Foundry and get it approved, and then we can all play it, but it will not be called "Classic"...does that make sense?
And as far as the map being "quite alright", that is a matter of opinion. If my friends want to play on Lucky Charms, then I don't have a problem with it. I wish it could be different, but the legal issues have finally come home and now the community has to deal with it in the best possible light.
I would love to play your map, but it cannot be considered a "classic" map for legal reasons (I am assuming, but this is just how I am reading into the copyright issue at this moment).
Lucky Charms hasn't compromised my membership.
