Southeast Texas (First Draft)

Postby Cypress333 on Sat Aug 08, 2009 7:36 pm

I've always loved this site, and am intrigued by the map making process. So, with my limited skills, I decided that I was going to try to create a map of my home region; Southeast Texas. Yet, i do not have photoshop or any of that fancy graphic stuff, nor do i know html or any of that nonsense. So, MS Paint was the best I could do. Here it is:

I know it may be hard to read it, sorry  . I am hoping to pass this project on to someone who is more skilled in the craft than me, and take a job as assistent designer to help him along the way if he needs any info/advice. If you would like to take a closer look at it, i would be happy to email you it. (just pm me) And again, i am not very sage when it comes to gameplay, and i do realize that it is very very simplistic. But it was the best i could do. (BTW gameplay tip-all colleges can attack each other)

Any takers? :)

Thanks! though its very simplistic, it took a lot of time to make it and decide what cities to use, etc. :D

Welcome to the foundry Cypress333!

I think that now we're discussing about a good idea more than a properly draft.

Maybe the best choice is to find someone that could help you with graphics (if this result is the best you can provide and you don't have a graphic program).

Finally, you should find some useful information in the following threads:

If you still have questions after browsing those topics, feel free to ask any specific questions in the Not Maps subforum ;)

hate to break it to you, but a lot of people will say that doing a region like that is no good. especially since there's a good texas map already. and its just a region of france... whats the big draw?

Welcome to the glorious foundry.

Whileyour layout is good, such a small region would not go over too well.

Maybe if you wanted to incorperate your home region into a map about a significant historical event ( preferably a war) which took place here. Maybe a specific important battle from the Mexican American war?
Woop Woop, i love conquer club, why'd i leave for a year?

welcome to the foundry! since this map doesn't yet have a clear plan for how it will progress to the main foundry, it's now moved to map ideas till u have a plan for producing quality updates. if u want to try doing the grpahics urself, but can't afford photoshop, then try downloading gimp. compared with photoshop, it's not so suited to making maps, but it is free!
