i always love it when i point this fact out to other countrymen -- that obama is essentially center-right and that american politics as a whole is insanely far to the right of most developed countries -- and they shoot back with "NO MAN BUT SOCIALISM" like they even know what the f*ck they're talking about when they invoke this boogeyman in conversation

So Chavez counts.

But then there is no term that can be used to differentiate those the live in the USA as opposed to other countries. Although I will admit that we didn't choose the most creative name, we still should have a descriptor.

Yer, the word socialism is such a scare word with most commentators and protestors not actually knowing what its true full definition actually is. Throw in "spreading the wealth", "large government" and "high taxes" and you've got a hate filled Republican rally full of brainless idiots.

Your absolutely right. The chosen moniker actually means something else, but has been usurped to mean US citizens....perhaps it should be USurpers. :-s

Thats just your opinion. Also it is way to early to judge the guy, but I'm guessing you've already made your mind up about his whole 4/8 year term.

George Washington was the greatest president. He Led America to victory and Independence. He rejected the title of "King" and voluntarily resigned after 2 terms. He urged the country not to form political parties. No president since has been quite like him.

He made a great General but I do not think that He was the greatest president. When He was President only White Male Protestant Landowners where aloud to vote. That is a very narrow selection of people.

And yet, Andrew Jackson was the one who changed that very thing.

PS, Washington really didn't have anything to do with who voted or not.

Andrew Jackson did not change that. Still only white males could vote. I am not sure when non-protestants and non-landowners were finally allowed to vote but no matter what Jackson did nothing can justify his killings of thousands of Native Americans.

Not saying it excused the forced removals, and thus deaths, of thousands of Native Americans you stubborn wannabe historian. What I am saying, is that there is always more then one side to history. Alexander the Great for example? Hell of a military genius, and had an expansive empire, larger then even the Persian Empire, and yet, he went completely nuts later in life and torched a major Persian City.

Obama got elected because he knew how to make a good speech but he didn't have a plan to do any of the things he was promising.
