Necro-bumping and smileys

Postby Georgerx7di on Tue Sep 15, 2009 10:32 pm

So I had this idea about a "necrobumping day" for GD. Then I though, let me check out the guidelines, (after 3 years I should at least skim through them) to see if this is against the rules. After all, I still have about 30 active games going and I believe that a ban kicks you out of your games.

Anyhow, low and behold I found it. Necrobumping is considered spam. So is posting a lot of smileys. I don't know why, both are fun and I doubt that they bother people. I was thinking of bumping my favorite thread, the community suggested ignore list :D

Anyway, I thought I'd make a poll and people could vote on how they feel about necrobumping. I think its fun to see old threads that I haven't read in years.

Btw, for those of you who don't know what it is. Necro means dead, and bumping means posting in a thread that is many pages down the list, therefore "bumping" it to the top. So necrobumping means bumping a dead thread to the top.

I made the poll so that you can change your choice. So maybe if you see this thread in 3 years you may have changed your mind. :D :D :D :D :D

Necro-bumping is where a user or group of users engage in bringing an old (dead) Forum Topic back to life without adding any meaningful new content to the discussion.
;) so....if you bring it back,..then make sure you have good to add to it :P

You aren't thrown out of games if you are forum banned... You seem to have bad info all around concerning this thread. Thankfully, clapper was able to correct that major error too...-0

Yeah, some threads deserve to make an appearance again and again because of their utter awesomeness.

But smileys... those I hate to the point of having disabled them completely.

Right, as clapper mentioned---bringing back old topics is fine---provided that you are adding something new the discussion, ;).

I find thread necromancers to be extremely arousing and it for me, is the ultimate aphrodisiac.

On a side note, I did vote however I would have liked to see an added ,"It gets me incredibly moist and alert" option.

Necro-bumping sucks. I'm glad it's against the rules.

I was about to suggest that you should've found an old thread about necrobumping to bump, but I couldn't find one!

From owenshooter?

Seriously, how would that post get me a warning? You need to put it in context. It's a play on words. Negro=black in many languages, and black means the color black.

There is such a thing as political correctness taken too far...

I thought that black was the absence of color

It depends on the context.

If we simplify things that far, you could say that all colors are just the way we perceive the variations in amplitude and frequency of electromagnetic radiation of a certain narrow frequency scale.

However, putting things to context helps. If we're talking about eg. a monitor or TV, you could say black is the status quo, the default state, the number zero, and all other colours are the colours. If we're talking about a painting on a canvas or a white piece of paper, then it's white that is the default, and black, blue, red and green and all the rest are the colours.

If necrojumping is the act of jumping on anything dead, is necrotrunking the act of hiding a corpse in your car trunk?

Is necrodunking the act of throwing a dead body through a basketball hoop?

Is necrodrinking the act of getting wasted in a zombie bar?

Is necrospunking the act of masturbating on corpses?

Is necrospanking the act of punishing the dead?

Is necrobanking the act of hiding your money in a grave?

If necrospanking is punishing the dead, is nercroclanking the act of necrospanking with an annoying metallic sound?
