Spotting a Multi

Postby elfish_lad on Fri Oct 16, 2009 11:55 pm

I'm sure this has been covered before but I couldn't find anything definitive, and I think it might be helpful to us new members.

Q: How are you able to spot a player with multiple accounts when you are playing?

I've been branching out from 1v1 and speed into regions where I'm playing more casual games with non-premium holders. Over the months I've killed time between turns in speed games (glares at the deadbeats  ) reading posts in Cheating & Abuse Reports. Not in order to foe players since I have zero in that category but, frankly I find it more interesting reading than this Board late at night. Anywho... I'm amazed at how often, you, my esteemed fellow players recommend KA run a mutli-scan on a player and later I see the words: BUSTED at the end of the search.

So what twigs you to this notion? I'm figuring it might be good to know.

Cheers.

hmm well obvious things like...time joined, games played with each other, new players playing complex maps well and/or with clickies.

A "new" player that goes straight for 1v1's.

It takes a while for a legitimate new player to realize that having only 4 available game slots is a drag if they are all tied up in multi-player games that may take a while to end.

Therefore a multi almost always goes for 1v1's, especially doodle, games that will end quickly so that they can maximize their game play.

like this guy that I am playing, I would bet half my porno collection that he is a multi.

http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?m ... y+Pig&so=D

His account was just created a little over a month ago and he already has played over 100 1v1's at a 70%+ win rate.

A common one is, a freemium player will create games at the same time with all his accounts and they are normally all identical and in numeric sequence for me to spot. I really dont want to give out alot of info on this topic because I dont want multis creating more accounts and trying to avoid from what I post. 8-) but I have quite a few techniques that I use. Of course similar names and maybe just changing the number at the end of their name is easy too.

Personally I think every account should be checked and verified once created before being able to play games here, but I just dont see that happening.

like i said...new account + all 1v1's + high game count & high win% = multi every time

Multis almost always have numbers in their names.

#1_stunna will back me up on this.

So in truth the best way to tell us apart is that it would take me 5 more rounds to kick your ass.

Jesus. Doesn't anyone read my signature anymore?

Be aware of your surroundings.
Look for suspicious activity.
If you see someone climbing into a plane, with a container labeled "anthrax"...

Oh wait, wrong thread.

Multi's are often very new, so you can click on their profile and see when they joined. They are of often low ranked, and yet very skilled for their rank. That's probably all I will offer, as there are others who posted here who know a lot more than me.

One thing you need to keep in mind us that there are some players who have kids and family who share the same ISP. At times they might use a handle that can appear multi-ish.
I convinced my better half to give C.C. a try ( More so to reduce the heat for being online so much when I'm home...) She chose the name "Janey Rockets" so the first thing I did was contact the mods to let them know the situation so anyone jumping to conclusions would be dismissed out of hand.
So assuming without doing some statistical homework and putting some thought into it and rushing to report the individual makes you look stooopid, but also ties up a hunter checking frivolous complaints.

Multis almost always use the "family" excuse. One I know even alleged a split personality. He now keeps his second personality in the closet when he plays.
