Funny, but I always thought Conquer Club was a gaming site first and foremost, where paying an annual sub gives its members additional privileges in respect of playing games rather than an opportunity to voice their angst in the forums for a disproportionate amount of their time.

It's little wonder the site moderators grow weary of having to defend their actions or having to spend an inordinate amount of time handling trivial complaints, when really all they want to do is maintain a fair and friendly web site on which people may come and enjoy a gaming experience.

I'll make sure to post there as well because this is draconian.

It was so long ago, I can't find it. I think the explanation has to do with the forum software.

I personally hope lack changes the way the game invite system is to be done. That is the most annoying thing about owen not being able to see pm's

As to why lack hasnt used forum mods to change it. No idea. Maybe he wants it this way. I think once permabanned not being able to send pms is appropriate. I think you should still be able to read them and be able to see clan forums.
I think the clan forum thing might be the fact that they are no longer a 'registered user' but its just an educated guess

Constructive criticism of the site by a mod. A sincere thank you. I hope your thoughts and ideas are acted upon by the admins.

I have said this before in ban threads and I will say it again, people voice their opinions and ideas because they care. They wouldn't say anything if they didn't care. For others to enter the forums and call these people naysayers or negative posters means they are not understanding what the criticism is all about. We want a better gaming site not an average or semi-good site, we want the best site, where there is respect and harmony.
A site where you don't fear that if someone slurs you racially and you complain, that you disappear in the middle of the night.

That's really not necessarily true at all. You presume that those who disagree with you are ignorant. That's not necessarily the case at all and most of the time, they probably simply disagree. There definitely are posters who tend toward the negative (as in HOW they post, rather than WHAT they post).

I agree with you that MOST of the time, people voice their opinions because they care and I certainly think they should be allowed to voice them as long as that seems to be the case. I almost always felt that was the case with Owenshooter.

Totally a valid point, gaming site first and foremost and whatever happens in the general forum should be dealt with appropriately and not affect gameplay

For permabans, high level infractions, yes do whatever is appropriate. But i implore you LV, PLEASE circulate this issue with the other mods and coding powers that be so that some progress could be made on this issue. I believe an appropriate usage of a "forum ban", aka, banning someone in just the damn forum (hopefully excluding clan groups) would allow people to cool down and focus on GAMING, and not get so riled up about mods banning people. Hell, mods could ban the living shit out of people for any infraction and it would be fine, they would just go back to playing the fucking game! Viola! Fuzzy bunny hugs all around. Forum could be as vanilla or nasty as the mods choose.

Owen would be chillin and having fun playing right now with his buddies.

I'm a bit late in coming to this discussion but I'm going to add my two pence worth anyway.

You guys are missing the point. Its not a matter of right or wrong, CC can do whatever the f*ck it wants. My point is that the way they are currently enforcing and monitoring the forums has had real detrimental consequences to the forums. Anyone who has been a member for a long period of time likely will agree with me that the forums used to be much more pleasant and entertaining. They've chased away a large portion of the community with their nazi-like governance and holier-than-thou attitude.

From the looks of Nightstrike's response, its not going to change....and quite frankly, they don't give two flying shits that they've run the forums into the ground. Thats their prerogative, but pretty disappointing and pathetic in my opinion, because the forums used to be a great source of camaraderie and entertainment on this site.

The forums are the reason most players stick around and continue to pay premium and gift premium for others. The shift in policy towards a more borin... ahem, family friendly site coupled with Team CC's zealous punishment enforcement for users that prove difficult to handle has slowly squeezed the life out of these forums. That's why I'm declining to buy premium for myself or anyone else until further notice. It has to be made clear to Team CC in no uncertain terms that their pursuit of a sterile forum that they deem safe to the moral health of all users will lose money.
