are you serious? what exactly is so complex about A.C.W / omaha / 2.1? there are about 8 maps too many in that list
had i been wise, i would have seen that her simplicity cost her a fortune

Won't help a thing ?

Most farmers don't play New Recruits, they play low ranked players that don't understand how to play freestyle.

I basically agree with you, but why these?:

American Civil War
Battle of Actium
Conquerman
Eastern Hemisphere
Imperium Romanum
Pearl Harbor
Siege!
WWII Europe
WWII Western Front

Omaha Beach has bombardment.

NYC has the subway system - I could see that being pretty confusing for a newbie.
Omaha Beach has bombardment.
Sydney Metro has the bus system - I see that as more confusing than the subways in NYC for a newbie

I would agree...seems like a very basic map, in my opinion.

any kind of map that has bombardments, irregular attack patterns, high volume of 1st round deployments, alot of neutrals were some of the reasons.

this is from December of last year, and I'm sure it haven't been updated. Dustbowl was allowed..

Agreed...I would consider Dustbowl to be a non-newbie map.

The concept of restricting certain maps from new recruits is a joke in and of itself. New recruits don't decide to leave and never come back because they get beat or because the map is too complex.

They leave because they come here expecting to play in realtime and when they find out, after they have filled up all of their available game slots, that they have no turns to immediately take and might not get a turn for in some cases several days, they decide that this site sucks and they leave.

I have recommended this site to several friends, not one has stayed. They all independently complained about the same thing, that they were unable to get any immediate playing time.

If Lack gave a 3 day trial account that had all of the privileges of a premium account, to all new recruits, I guarantee that more players would not only stay but that they would end up buying premium when the 3 day trial ran out.

There is certainly a lot of truth to that. I can see why some folks would be deterred by that.

It's a very good idea (have you suggested it?). I know of one site (non-Risk) that gives a 30-day trial run. It seems to work.

100% yes... those maps are very complex for new people... All the maps listed look fine to me. Omaha beach is a PITA for most people, much less a new recruit.

a mock interview with johnnyrocket24

why don't you like people farming the new recruits johnny?

they don't know the map and it's too easy to get wins and points from them

you join thousands upon thousands of games with cooks and privates in order to get easy wins and points from people that aren't good at this game... how is that different?

because they have played long enough that they are fair game...

yes, but you are upset that people are attempting to gain points and wins from easy games, new recruits may be intelligent players or they may not be... the people you play are proven bad players... so how is what you're doing any better?

because CC hasnt said its against the rules yet...

i think that is the best suggestion i have seen yet to date, DF i think you should create a seperate post just for this suggestion. it would bring in way more money for the turtle man and would bring a heck of a lot more people to the site, and better their chances of staying...

It's a good idea but I think that before it were to ever be implemented there would need to be a better fool proof system to detect multis, as this would prob. tempt a lot of current freemiums to make multis.

Playing cooks and privates is better, because the odds of them deadbeating is SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER.

I would think youd have stubled on this in the multiple times this was explained in the cheating thread you got warned for farming in.

Its still hardly the most competitive thing, however, there is a big difference, because its not expressly against the rules....unless it becomes so bad as to be a gross abuse of game, which has not happened for anyone yet....and because they are less likely to deadbeat, and because even after 5 games, the sheer mechanics of the game will be much more clear.

The reason the NEW RECRUITS are blocked, is the combination of these reasons.

The reason the NON NEW RECRUITS are blocked, is because CC wants everyone that has played at least 5 games to be able to play what they want.

Do people take advantage of this sure. Have you?...obviously. Should something be done about it? Perhaps it will, but it is a very complicated thing to regulate, so its up to the players to decide what games to play. If they want to take advantage of players that arent experts so be it. But after 5-10 games, most players realize by joining a high rank that they have a reduced chance of winning, and are probably joining to learn, and take the long shot....so they are not being taken advantage of nearly as much.

Where as people who have played hundreds of NEW RECRUITS have completely taken advantage players that know nothing.

Without a doubt, noob farmers may be in a glass house, but its a plexiglass house, compared to the house that someone who recently killed a couple hundred NEW RECRUITS is in, which is plate glass, on halloween, on a dark lit road with no neighbors.

We do need a new list.

Proposed by JR though, no.

JR, just because you got a Community Medal so you'd stop whining about not having enough, doesn't mean you should dictate.. ANYTHING.. ever.

" JR's proposed list of maps to block for New Recruits."

I don't believe his is dictating anything really. Seems like a suggestion, with the obvious implication that there will be conversation and consensus after wards.
