(not to mention a few doodle assassins and a couple of 1v1 freestyles against people I know are better than me at them)
The result: I drop from colonel to private 1st class (and now up a bit because some of the quads games finished)
An interesting thing now. At least half a dozen people (not naming anyone) whom I normally play with have foed me, because I am a low rank with the skill of someone who can stay easily at colonel. It really opened my eyes: I would have never guessed that some of them cared about their points.
Seems odd to me. I don't mind going down for a terminator tourney because I was getting targeted and going back later. Who cares if I join 20 doodle assassins and drop to major? I know I can get up to colonel if I want to join some 2500+ game on a nice map and settings <- that's the only reason I ever try to keep my score at someplace.
Why do some of the rest of you keep your points at some rank? I don't see any advantages to it other than being able to join 2k+ or 2500+ games.

Like noone ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
I will travel
across the land
Searching far and wide
Each Pokemon to understand
The power that's inside
Pokemon!
It's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Pokemon!
Ooh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
Pokemon!
Our hearts so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Pokemon
Gotta catch 'em all!
Every challenge along the way
With courage I will face
I will battle every day
To claim my rightful place
Come with me, the time is right
There's no better team
Arm in arm we'll win the fight
It's always been our dream
