Let them keep behaving that way.

Not all Republicans are as bad as the fucking morons on TV or at the Tea Bag parties, but there are some.

I personally am enjoying watching the GOP come apart at the seams. Rather amusing, frankly.

As far as Obama uniting the country? Shit, were you around last November? Pretty sure he united everything he needed to when he kicked the f*ck out of McCain at the polls.

you think the gop is coming apart? hmm well I dont give a rats ass about what happens to them, but the way I see things, next year the rupublicans are picking up the house of representatives without even earning it. would love a glimpse in your world

Where are they going to pick up votes? Honestly.

Also, who is going to run for President? Palin?

If the economy continues to improve, which it is showing signs of doing, then Obama's approval rating will continue to rise.

I don't think he is a perfect President, actually I'm pretty annoyed he wants to extend the Patriot Act, but so far I think he has done a good job and I think it will continue to get better.

well, obama slipping in the polls, its way too early, but as you can see it wouldnt be too hard to assume as the presidents approval ratings drops, he will be less likely to get at many votes, and vice versa. Palin? Doubt it and I hope not. RON PAUL!

Sure, Obama is slipping, but that is because Americans are fickle.

If the economy turns a bit - as it is showing signs of (thought it sure as f*ck isn't helping my industry!) - then his approval ratings will climb.

Ron Paul? f*ck that noise. I wouldn't be adverse to a third party, but Ron Paul sucks. He is no different than Kinky Friedman is in Texas, an idiot pretending he is a third party but is really a fake Democrat.

Though, I hope Ron Paul runs as a Libertarian - hell, my work used to be owned by Libertarians, until we went bankrupt. Hey-oh!.

If he runs as a Libertarian, then it isn't splitting any one party. I'm OK with that. Let a third party rise. It could make American politics much, much better to have a group that isn't as swayed by special interest groups.

Oh, sorry.

You are adverse to a third party?

Not really surprising, considering the beating Republicans took in the last election from Democrats. Y'all probably don't want to get drubbed by Dems and the third party.

Unless you were hating on the part of my post that said the economy was coming back. While I haven't gotten to enjoy that, because my industry is committing hari kari.

That said, the economy is definitely improving.

Oh, and once again, Phatscotty, I apologize. I'm sorry I didn't bump my post an hour later because no one responded (edit: sorry I got you confused with Gabonx), but thank you for the concern about me not showing up and responding. I appreciate it. I really do. Though your avatar confuses me because some other guy has it.

I completely object to Obama's politics and policies, but this is an unfair question. American, and world, politics IS fragmented. There are two world views, two camps. Any individual, whether a politician or not, belongs to one of them, with a certain amount of variation. No mere human being is going to unite anything except maybe one or the other of the camps.
The right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer to the real question.

Only two world views, huh? Let me guess. They are, "With us", and "Against us".

There's only 2 world views? Wow, you should turn off your tv and go talk to some people. Not on the interwebz, I mean you know, face to face and stuff. If you can, try to find some from outside the US, this will help a lot. When I say talk to some people what I really mean is listen to some people and maybe ask questions, even if they have different views than yours. Let us know how you get on.

Phat, you're being ridiculous.

Things need to get much, MUCH worse in America for the PEOPLE to get off their couches and start raising hell. As in worse, we'd have to see a significant drop in standard of living, basic necessities, and ALSO a much weaker central government to keep us all in line at the end of the day.

That and many more conditions need to be met.

yeah, i havent seen anyone getting off their couches. not anyone, not in every major and minor city across the whole entire USA, nope, i havent seen a single person. I have my hands over my eyes.
Interesting you bring up standard of living, I think there is a poll out there somewhere that is overwhelming in opinion. but I didnt hear about it.
I have my hands covering my ears.
The debt, no no no, that doesnt devalue our currency....no not at all? not by 40% over the last 6 years.....no no, see im a fucking clueless retard that just doesnt have a clue. no no no, a devalued currency doesnt create a ripe environment for a shortage of basic necessities, no no thats just crazy talk. But I'm not talking.
I have my hands over my mouth.

or perhaps, in face of a reality check, it is you my friend, who are not seeing, hearing, or talking. Perhaps, you are being ridiculous.

Oh man Phat I just can't get enough of you! You know there's actually this Russian professor in Moscow who has been predicting the US will break up into a bunch of pieces. He sees a return of the Confederacy, Alaska rejoining Russia, Hawaii joining Japan, your prairies joining Canada, east coast becoming a country and California becoming a country. Is this where you are getting your info about the 2nd civil war?

Hey perhaps I may be ridiculous at times, but you certainly are all the time--and thanks for being so serious about it (which I suspect you really aren't).

And would you mind giving us a book summary of that Russian professor as well? That would be another good laugh.

Are you really? 52.9% to 45.6%? 52.9% is unity?

This poll assumes that unification is a good thing. I'm pretty sure it's not, especially in a representative republic.

well, if he didnt say "I can bring the parties together, I can unite the parties, WE can work together to break the partisanship, over and over and over again. I am not assuming unity is a good thing. Overall I believe that it's better than division.

Obama throws his endorsement behind using an emergency budget measure through a financial committee to pass a massive entitlement program that 22% of people support. 52% oppose the current bill, 26% think they should start the bill over again from scratch. that is 3-1 against. mind you this is a bill that was done behind closed doors in Harry Reids office, with less than 50 minutes of coverage on c-span.

We were kind of ignoring the necrobump, but hey, why not respond. Although the Senate bill is riddled with holes, it still has some important reform. I just wish it was a little more socialist. What other people think doesn't really affect the way I feel about it.
