i will buy conquer club

Postby ronsizzle on Sun Dec 20, 2009 7:11 pm

i see that conquer club is worth an estimated 170,000 dollars.

i will pay lackattack 30 grand more than that for this site.

so that is an offer of 200 grand for conquer club.

this is a serious offer, and will wait to hear from lack himself...

WHY TAKE $200,000 when CC is worth 170,000? he is better off keeping it

Do you understand business? Hell, I'm not one to talk, but at least I understand more than you. You don't want to sell something at face value, because you have all of that money in your site plus the potential money from more time owning the site. $170,000/3=$56,000/year on average. CC is also dying, so we have to take off say $10k a year. Ron's offer leaves lack with all lack's gained + his profit until the fourth quarter.

Not saying lack should sell, but you're off…

the price on that site is based mostly on subscribed users and traffic...

this site doesnt make much money off of paid advertisement...

and while there are 19000 users on this site... only a very small percentage actually pay for anything...

you see the first few pages of the scoreboard, and maybe the last page and you think that all 77 pages are mostly active players... but that is misleading, most pages look like this...

4850/19201 (25.25%) members on the scoreboard are premium.

We can't take exact numbers, as only lack and analytical studies from Day 1 know, but there are posts putting numbers out there. A 9/3/09 post says that a count of premium members spotted the number at 5010/18449 (27.15%). Knowing the trends of membership amounts spiking in the winter and decreasing in the summer, that's a bad -1.9% quarterly loss in premium. There you have a loss of 7.6% in 2009. That sets our premium number at 5219 members at Jan 1, 2009. Let's say he gained 10% in 2008: he has 5438 premiums on Jan 1, 2008. If he gained 15% from Jan 1, 2007, to the first of 2008, he has 6254 premiums. Obviously he had 0 premiums on the day of launch.

Of the numbers we actually know (or are very close to knowing), that puts lack at $121,250 from 4850 premiums in 2009. If he had 5010 premiums on the first day of 2009, which is a pretty close number I'd assume, 2008 saw $125,250. He lost $4,000 this year.

The 2008 number would give lack $135,950. From these numbers, he lost a full $10k.

The price increased on Dec. 1, 2007, so he had 11/12 of the year of $20 memberships, and 1/12 of $25. 11/12 of our estimated 6254 is 5733(•20=$114,660), and the month of December with the price increase shows lack having premiums at 521(•25=$13,025). So we have a 2007 gain of $127,685, giving him a gain of $8.3k.

In sum, we have $121,250+$125,250+$135,950+$127,685=$510,135 over the past three years. The average revenue from premiums is $170,045/year—that's eerily similar to esitesats's number: "i see that conquer club is worth an estimated 170,000 dollars."

Of course, those numbers aren't near exact. Plus my percentages aren't compound losses, but linear. Blah. I'm tired and probably made a mistake somewhere.

You did make a mistake. You added 4 numbers and divided by 3 to get the average.

Anyway, looks like the site makes about 125,000 a year. There should be some expenses though, even for a website. Lack inevitably pays himself, if only for tax purposes. None the less, if you bought the site you would have to pay him or someone else to do his job. CC pays for its servers and maintenance. May have other paid employees. Also, pays random.org for lists, etc. So we cannot assume that that number is net income.

So perhaps if ronc bought this site, maybe he would profit somewhere between 50,000 and 100,000 a year.

Having said that, if he really wanted to by the site, why not send lack a pm. Or contact him outside of the site would be more realistic.

I'm sure that this thread wasn't really ron making an offer to lack, but it makes for some fun discussion. :D

This could be a stupid suggestion for you Ronc but,
If you have 200k to spend on a website, just start your own. That is plenty of money to get a high quality site going and keep it going for a long time until your membership actually starts paying all your bills and you begin to make money from it. Not to mention you can do whatever the hell you want....you can ban whomever you wish for whatever reason you wish, you can have ONLY flame wars forums...post in the forums how much you hate everything about the site (Except actually, renewing your premium membership every year for $25 so you can continue to complain to a captive audience that you think cares about what you think, evidently.).....the sky is the limit.
I for one, am tired of the same 5 or 10 people complaining constantly about the way things go on around here; so it would make me extremely happy to see you start your own site and take those few annoying people with you so the majority of us could have some peace and quiet around here while we continue to enjoy ourselves playing a game on a website because we choose to pay to do so.

Wait, then you wouldn't have anything to bitch about.

D'oh, George. I probably typed in hundreds of numbers, and made a mistake that obvious.

Anyway, $170,000 is probably overpriced. However, you can't just mark the site's value off of premium-generated revenue, so $200,000 would probably be right in subsidizing lack for 3-4 years of profit and an extra three quarters or a year.

lms, come on now. you are making this topic negative. stay on topic.

you are talking about negative people, and yet you are being negative.

i dont want to start my own site. i want to buy this one. and it isnt my money. it is my familys money. i dont want to start from scratch. lackattack has done a great job with this site. and he is good at starting them up. so why shouldnt he get paid for his hard work.

if i were to buy his site, i would have to keep him on as a consultant for at least 2 years. and of course a 10 year noncompete agreement.

lms......please dont make this a negative topic. i dont want anyone banned......why would you say that?
