The internet is a strange place with strange people. Don't you think an online game like CC could possibly attract sociopaths and other people not-connected with reality and society?

As one of the aforementioned sociopaths i must take exception to your alarmist rantings. We are people too and we have feelings. I generally keep my sociopathic tendencies in check and i do not stalk and/or kill people. We sociopaths have a very tough time getting along with you fuckheads. We try to contribute to the community with bake sales, book clubs, neighborhood watches and such, but there are always intolerant and judgemental people like yourself who just won't give us a chance.

PS - should you ever actually try a preemptive strike against me make sure you take the safety off first. That's what the last wanker who tried such forgot about - boy was he embarrassed. I myself never use the safety - i like leaving room for spontaneity.

I don't carry a portable god complex (my penis length is reasonable), but do have a wicked six iron on the off chance that I'll need to actually defend myself.

why in the f*ck would I try? you think I give two shakes of a rats ass about you>?

If you are so great and not afraid, just throw your name and address in your signature for a week. no? I guess that penis isnt that big. Or maybe you are not an idiot.

I put this here for the clowns giving personal info that takes someone straight back to them. With over what 20,000 users here.. there is someone here that lives withing a 10-30 min drive from you.

In this bumpage thread we piss each other off all day.

Ill be honest.. I see that bk barount guy walking or driving near me here in mexico, Im preemptive striking. You never know, and I tried to make a point jsut by what ive seen. and if it falls on deaf ears then frick it and frick off.

Heh, I don't think b.k. is dangerous, just a little feisty! You are right about the proximity thing though. You and I are about 20 min. apart, mas o menos! (depends on crossing time) And, I understand your concern, with all the shit going down around here on a daily basis.

If it's that personal, they probably put their own shot in the shell. Like they print out their response to you and stuff it in the shell.
Or they fill it with semen.
With that Idea, I may have just saved your life. But you'll still be coated with semen so you may wish that you were dead.

Semenshot. I think you might be on to something there... The hunting industry will be transformed! No longer will good ol' boys need to kill things to have their alone-time together! They can just go out into the woods and blow loads all over each other in a purely heterosexual manner!

Approved. When my CDC contact gives me the alert, I'll start trucking north. You better be alive when I get there.

AON has great points. "OpSec" - einsatzgeheimhaltung as we used to call it - is not about being paranoid. It's about keeping it safe and sane, gang!

You kids nowadays with your MyFace pages and your Zunes are letting way too much hang out way too far.

It may not even be something as dramatic as someone tracking you down to your house, identity theft is a very real problem and the divulging of birthdays, names of hometowns, etc. is all the savvy social engineer needs to ruin your credit. On field maneuvers, if we encountered the enemy we didn't saunter up and ask them their life story; we radioed back descriptions of fatigue patches/emblems, unit size, direction of movement, etc. That's all Intel needs ... the civilian equivalent (DOBs, hometowns, etc.) is also the ID thief needs.

I've given out some info on myself but, like AON, I also have mitigating levels of precautions in place.

Let's work together, gang, and make CC the safest community we can. Let's make it happen!

I'm not too concerned.

That semenshot is worrisome though... *shudders

EDIT: forgot to mention this, but be careful about links you click on (anywhere on teh interwebs), when you get there, there's usually a link for something you want to be going to so you click it and it sends in your IP, so if you don't have that taken care of (via proxy), then the person knows where you live.

A similar method is also done when you respond to an email.

As far as anonymity is concerned, pretty much any regular poster here has given most away. What you regurarly type is a give-away to your personality (unless you're a good actor), how you react to certain messages--what your limits are, how easily one loses his cool and loses it to what topic exactly. What's commonly found on here other than how your more or less normal behavior, is also your job (or job description), city/town of residence, habits (legal and illegal), age, educational background, general interests, hobbies, topics for chit-chat, relationship history (with parents, past girlfriends/boyfriends), you name it, it's most likely already on here.

All that you give away can be taken in and then turned into a better picture of you. To distinguish you from the other possible choices would be unique stories you've written. "Ah, you know this guy, me too, bullshit bullshit bullshit."

Of course that takes time and lots of motivation, which deters many people from doing this. All I'm saying is that it can be done by a crazy enough individual with a little bit of brainstorming and some imaginative thinking.

If anybody wants more details, I'll give you my email address (LOL, HAHA, just kidding). Just be safe out there, my fellow ConquerClubbers, and always be aware of your surroundings. To me, all of you are good people, even if I do disagree with your views and will occasionally annoy you, I'd be very upset if anything bad were to happen to any of you, which is why I write this post--to wake some of you up a bit.

CC is no more likely to get you hunted down and killed by a sociopath because you posted personal information than Facebook or any other site on the internet is for posting personal information. Probably less likely.

How would you feel towards a government-industrial complex that is the most powerful entity in the entire world, that has several years ago stripped away many safe-checks on the citizens' privacy and rights, while recently trying to revoke one's citizen if one was just labeled a "terrorist"?

That, and guns can be enjoyable. Don't have to be paranoid to love shooting them.

Sometimes it's unavoidable.

I own a company Named after me. So my name, email, website, address, and phone numbers are out there for all to see. In fact, I'm possibly one of the easiest pepole to find.

John Russell
honeyb@mts.net

The above information is found on the splash page of my website.

Does this worry me?

A little. About as much as getting cancer, or getting hit by lightning does.
Lunatics are out there, and if someone fixates on you whatever false sense of security you wrap yourself in thinking that your annonymous will be gone in a flash. It's really not that hard to get information on anyone with a little effort.

The secret is, that when a problem like that pops up, DEAL with it. No loose ends, no bullshit, no sticking your head up your ass and hoping he/she goes away.
