It might piss off Pedro but that's just because he dislikes how american this board is in general.

Yer, the USA vs GB in Olympics is such a fair comparison when you consider the size and wealth difference of our countries, I mean you couldn't even get twice as many golds as us even though your population is five times as large. At least we can run round a 400m track in the relay without dropping the f*ing baton every single time!

You are fucking deranged if you think the English are self absorbed and we think that we can win anything.
I've been on this planet 41 years and I've never seen England win anything worthwhile (Well there was Virginia Wade at Wimbledon in 77, but I fucking hate tennis)

We've won a couple of formula 1's over the years, the rugby world cup a few years back (i don't like rugby as a sport to watch)

I voted for Spain. Not because I'm Spanish, but because the poll was for who you think will win the world cup.

I felt we had a chance to win it last time around in Germany, but we have no chance this year. Maybe, perversely, with such a nationwide understanding that our chances are slim, there will be less pressure on the England team and they go on to win it. If they do, I'll be dancing in the street and it will be a nice surprise, but I'm under no illusion it's a given.

If you want to take the EU as a whole...fair enough.

In Beijing, the USA(population: 309 million) won 36 gold medals, the UK(population 61.5 million) won 19 and the EU, including the UK(population 830 million) won 77. If you want, you can add Canada and Mexico's gold medals to make a North American total(3 for Canada, 2 for Mexico), but I might add the rest of Europe to the EU total.

So, hush now, little boy...... :-$

The thing is that England have a ridiculously easy route to the semi final should they top their group. Not getting to the semis should be seen as a failure for the team, but saying that, facing Brazil/Netherland in the semis and then Argentina/Spain (what a game this will be) in the final is going to be too much for England. I rate all four of these teams above England.

Spain #1? People are getting realistic at last.
Brazil's overrated as usual, Argentina's got a wacky coach.

But USA as winners? Get real.

I don't think Brazil are overrated, they eased their qualifications, won the Confederations Cup and even though they are not hte team of 8 years ago or play like that they are still rammed with quality and have a great defensive 5 and attack. I think their major problem against the bigger teams might be in controlling the play as their central midfield is not as solid or commanding or athletic as of other major countries.

Agree about Argentina, Maradona is an awful manager. I mean considering the team they have and they almost didn't qualify... If they had a world class manager I would rate them above Spain.

as per usual evrything depends on northerners for england. if gerrard and rooney don't get injured and capello plays them in the right position together we will be hard to stop. the thing i like about capello is that when we go a goal up, we keep going forward. this has always been our problem in the past. go a goal up and play deep! except of course when we had a geordie manager and half the team were geordies during the 90 world cup.

by the way, a geordie-ish team ( bishop auckland won the first ever world cup in turin. not alot of people know that.

I love how much hype there is over England vs. USA.

I'd laugh if it was a England over USA blowout.

how many matches do you have be a coach (international teams don't have managers, they're coaches) in before you can decide if they're good or bad? how many has maradona been in charge for? they were in trouble when he took over and with a hell of a lot of pressure they progressed into the finals with an automatic spot. considering everything that went on during those few months (of which i was in argentina and peru) i'd say he did a pretty decent job.

germany 06, who was their coach? how did they do? and how many matches had he been in charge for before the finals stated?

Yeehaaa it starts today :)

Im looking forward to tomorrow because USA for the first time in a long time have a pretty decent team and England's team isnt looking too shabby.

I dont think either team would fare well against a team like Spain though.

I'm watching Mexico vs. RSA right now. For free (which I did clearly state in my first post). I'm sure there will be ads.

i think, pimpdave that kiss was asking if normally you have to pay because you linked to a place where it was being sold as free indicating you might have to pay if you dont use that link (or some such similar tool)
