The swedish borders are almost all of them totally incorrect and the Danish regions are really strange...

RexRegis was the person doing it

but before he ended i started helping him by adding names on so that is why i have one of the most modern versions of the map

Table/design for key

Neutral territoies perhaps dark brown or dark grey to give it a lift
Sure. But I can't of like it this way too. It looks kinda clean.

I still think this should be done it is just too dark

Can vastmanland attack Halsingland?? make it clearer
But Danmark has 4 countries whereof 2 has borders, just like Baltikum.
You can't attack that way, that's how the borders were from the beginning, but I guess I could make it even clearer.

as for the bonus change that was me going mad and miscounting borders, sorry
It does need to be clearer otherwise in 4 months time there will be 500 noob threads talking about it

Make every colour slightly brighter
Ok, why? This way was the version that I found worked best, you can see the light yellow text clearly on all bakgrounds this way. I tried with darker text first, but this way seemed better.

a lot of the continent colors look similar and with the dark surroundings it needs brightening up a bit

Clearer in what way? Maybe I can move the text Närke so you can see the lake better?

sounds good perhaps if the colours did change this would become clearer anyway

Do I need tell you the old graphics were much better??
Plus, the playability was better too, Rex had used already several suggestions from the foundry, so it was much nearer to good map at playability. Of course, yours can become a good one too, but you need open your mind.

Using an image of this size, there is no way to have 3 continents on Sweden. See how that central area looks crowded in the map... and on other hand huge areas with just a territory. Please undertand, this is not supposed to be a Sweden map, but a Scandinavia map. But, looks like you are making a Sweden map with some appendix. Sweden has more territories than all other countries together. And who gives a shit if Sweden is divided in 3 areas in real life? This is why we are not going to play on a Sweden political map. The natural way to split the map in continents, like you called it, frequently is not the better one, and need to be adapted to allow people to play risk on it. Brazil for example has 5 regions in real life, but the map is divided in 6.

So, Im sure you will see that central and South Sweden could be joined to form a continent (joining some territories, too), and you could look for some info about how to split the other countries, too.

Plus, I would also like Iceland on the map...

So, you can ask... you want me to do a map like the old one? Like I said, most playability questions were already discussed in the old one. If you want make it really different, pay attention more to the playability, and not to a "natural" way to split things. This is a tip.

OK. I still don't understand why you wan't a real map with fake borders. If you want to have an optimal map just draw some fake areas and make some fake borders...

Don't understand why Iceland should be there, it's not by far that close in real life. It looks wrong in my eyes.

About the "much better graphics" on the other map. The only difference I can see is that the first one has a pattern in the bakground and brighter colours. My opinion on the other maps graphics is that the colors is way to bright and the pattern and the grey area makes it look more like a website from the 90:s. The compass is wrong too.

As far as I can tell you're the only one that have said that this new map isn't good. All I want is to have a map that I can play on. Since no one had done anything in 3 months I decided to make one on my own. Some one ells can do it, I didn't do it to get any credit or something like that. I just think that if you do a real map, you should preferally know something about the area and use natural borders.

For example: in real life I come from Smaland but on the old map the area I come from is placed in Skane even though Smaland is included as an area on the map. S. Denmark is almost not even Denmark it's Northern Germany. And so on...

I've read all the old posts and I can't find many suggestions that isn't included in my map.

You do the map, no problem. The only things I think you should change are:
-The pattern in the bakground
-All colours
-Most of the borders
-The compass
-Remove Iceland, it's not supposed to be there
-Don't just use Northern and Southern as names on the different continents (ex Northern Norway isn't a good name)
-Some names are english and some are in the local language

I still think the map dogonsi has made is good and definately playable. I ask you to adress any real problems with the map, since there really isn't any. It's a very balanced map which would work great for 4-player double games, and compare to some of the maps that's already in the game, I'd say that it's a lot better and way more balanced. And har a lot better graphics too btw. Just turn Finland into 4 armies, and I'm all happy.

If a swedish player wants to center a map a bit on sweden, why shouldn't he be allowed to? I'm sure it could be renamed to 'Sweden and surroundings' or something if that makes complaining people more happy?

Don't let the people complaining put you down. Fix up the map a little bit more and hopefully we can play on it soon.
