Sorry for not being too active before, I was pre-occupied with crusades and briarsburg and this game was quite weird. I think the whole jester thin from several pages ago was overstated and it was only a few players acting weirdly because it was day 1.

Having said that I think vio has gone off the deep end on the commander thing. Life is busier at some times than others and he is doing the right thing by trying to get himself replaced if he thinks he cannot commit to the game. Vio's reaction is although she has never seen a player ask to be replaced before. Her whole argument fails on the level that I doubt any player here would willingly give up playing in a game if he thinks he will be outed as mafia. Not only is that part of the game pretty damn fun but commander was really not in any kind of pressure anyway.

I believe by addressing some things in Iliad's post, I'll also be addressing some things in strike's post. Strike was incorrect about commander's finals. His finals start this coming Monday (exactly 7 days after he asked to be replaced). As of right now, he is studying- he hasn't taken a single final yet. At the time he asked to be replaced, he didn't even think that he would be taking his finals, as they were optional. As I've stated before, I know him well, almost as well as Dazey. Since I know him better than anyone else in this thread- that is probably exactly why his behavior seems more suspicious to me than anyone else.

Sigh, nobody really understands. He is not quitting this game because of finals.
He knew when finals would be months ago. He has a semester schedule. However since he has A's in all of his classes, and taking the finals were optional for him- for weeks he assumed that he wouldn't.
Had he known he would've been busy with finals, he wouldn't have joined so many games in the first place. He is not the type of person to do something that he can't commit to. Or just quit and give up for no reason.
On Thursday he found out he got a B in one of his classes and then opted to take the finals. That is when he promptly made the announcements.
He asked to be replaced in this game days before he knew he would even be taking finals. I feel I've stated that so many times.
This is also the only game he has asked to be replaced in. In the others he left the option up to the mod- in this one he outright asked to be replaced almost a week ago.

While I think the first part of your post is brilliant illiad, I disagree with the later.
You say that you don't feel that someone would quit the game for fear of being outed as scum. I think that is exactly what commander is doing, which is why I have my suspicions on him. He would not ask to be replaced if he were a cop or a doctor. How do I know? He's had both those roles before in other mafia games that I've been in with him. He's never been scum or third party yet. And he obviously has a role this game that he has never had before. Statistically that points towards a scum or third-party role.
The reason he wants to be replaced is because something in ga7 and nag's debate/argument bother him. Something happened that he wished not to be involved in. He felt like he was about to suicide- and asking for a replacement was the only way for him to do so. He felt this was the better option so his faction.

This is so clear to me, yet I'm accused of suffering from severe tunnel vision. I suppose what that means is that I can't see the big picture. And you are right- I cannot see what in the world offended/bothered/annoyed commander to the point that he wished to have nothing more to do with this game and thought of suiciding. I will not see the big picture until I find out what happened. I don't see how anyone else could either. What offended him so much? What are the mechanics of his role? Why does he not want his faction to lose this powerful role that he feels he cannot play anymore?

And as I'm sure you guys can clearly see now, when something bothers me, no matter how small it may seem- it REALLY BOTHERS me. Not a small thing to me.

That being said I have to ask, Violet are you in/have been in college? I don't know where commander is going, but finals are never optional, they are often 20% or more of the grade in a class. Beyond that you logic is full of holes, it is a mandy-esque leap that you are making over there. If this were a regular game you logic might hold a little bit more water, but it is unmafia, and I will bet a good bit that unmafia is the reason he is a bit unenthusiastic about this game, not some oddball statistical analysis based of 2 or 3 games that you have played with him.

Yes, I graduated from California State University in May 2009. So a little over a year ago.

Yes, finals were usually mandatory and 20% of your final grade. There were the rare occasions were taking a final was optional. It wasn't likely, but it did happen at least once or twice during my college years.

This was the case with commander in a few of his classes. His professor told the class that the final was optional. As commander is a straight A student- he figured no need in him taking the final. It wouldn't increase his grade any- and could possibly lower it, if he scored poorly on the final. No need in taking that risk. However once he found out that one of his A's was really a B, he just couldn't have that, so opted to take the final.

He didn't plan on taking his finals until very very recently. As in- within the last three days recently.

Now lets get serious; the reason he might have quitted this game and not the others, is because this game is on DAY 1 for fake sakes, which makes him by definition less invested, and is way cooler to replace on day 1 than after have to cope with several night actions that you didnt choose, and god knows how many pages to read, saying that i think find him a replacement will be something fairly easy to do, because it is day 1.

That being said I'm surprised everyone is so willing to follow this wagon giving its nature particularly vio (really you want him to be lynched flat out? Don't replazce him that would just let him defend himself?) And Nag who I honestly thought was a better player than to put your money on a blind lynch wagon even on day 1.

I was not anything to do with a 'commander wagon.' VioIet made an obscure post about commander that was irrelevant to her defence at the time. Rather than quietly capitalising on this and voting her which would've been the scummy thing to do, I thought I'd question this with a bit of pressure on commander or whoever replaces him which we are waiting to see , his comment about the balance of the game being affected was particularly scummy and I thought that required further questioning so I laid down a vote, which I would also like to note was the first vote on commander.. hardly part of a bandwagon. If that makes me scum by all means lynch me, my role is pretty dumb anyway - I am a kicker I choose someone to be kicked in the night phase each night.
