"The day felt like a thousand years. As I flipped through old files, looking for a reason to get a search warrant to a crook's house. This man was one of the thirteen who were on probation and suspected of being involved with the havoc caused in the last few months. Soon I found that this man, under the name 'Vincent' had moved into town on November 2nd, 2006; just one month since the killings began! This felt like a gun had just been shot past my ear. How could I have ignored this?

"As I raced to the justice department I saw 'Vincent' being pulled away by police. Then the man who was in my office just a few hours ago briefing me on this case approached me and said that the town unanimously voted to get the sucker off the streets and into the cells. 'Good' I responded, 'I found some evidence showing that he may be involved with the mafia.'

"'Is that so?' replied the officer, 'we may have to interrogate him.'

"A search warrant was no longer necessary. A number of cops and I went into 'Vincent's' house to see if he was truly a man of the mob. It looked clean, and normal. I felt dissapointed. I thought for a moment that we had truly caught a criminal and put him where he belonged. But then ??? (Deputy) came across something more than I could have imagined: a safe. We had him in custody, so opening it was no longer a legal issue. Apparently not a physical one either, as it proved to be opened with ease. Inside it was something spectacular and devastating at the same time. Knives. Dozens of them. Which was something terrifying for me to see. On paper, this seems to put him directly with the mafia, but I have seen the bodies...the victims were shot to death, usually with multiple guns upon them. There were never stab wounds. It seems as though there was more to the operation than we have expected."

"Just as I was about to leave, I heard a radio. I thought it was 'Vincent's', but it was the Deputy's. ??? ran out from the bedroom, where the knives were found. 'We've got another murder! By the pond! Let's move! Quickly!'

"Things were unfolding too quickly."
