I'm sorry, but that great wall just doesn't look right (and I'm not just saying this to get you use my version again  )... it's too stylized to fit the rest of the map.

The towers at least should be straight.

Yes, I would be much happier with it if all the shapes were oriented in the same direction-- North.

Okay here is the new update (before one of my cohorts decides to place this back in the Recycling Bin).

Changes made:
- Brand new Great Wall
- Slight change to the attack arrows
- Moved the top barbed wire on the legend up a smidgen

The glow in the rivers is going to stay so you can tell the difference between the territories and the rivers. The arrows, well, I made a slight change in them, at the same time I want them to be noticeable so no one will complain about not seeing the attack routes properly. As for putting something in to denote the bombardment between Taipei and Fujian, it is already mentioned in the legend. If I place another attack route between the two, I believe it would confuse people. So unless a majority want something there during Beta, then I'll do something.

So here are the large and small!

First off, the Great Wall is much, much better. I still have a few suggestions:

  1. Okay, I think I figured out what I think needs top be done with the arrows (thanks to a Fractured America game I'm in): I think you need to make them block arrows with black outlines (a la Fractured America). I think they would look exceedingly better that way.
  2. The Great Wall is certainly better, but I think to make it stand out more and follow the pattern of the other impassables, I think it could benefit from some black outlining as well.
  3. Thirdly, I thought of an idea for the left side of the legend ("IMPASSABLES" and everything below it): Make a visual legend. You know, like, "IMPASSABLES:" and then the pictures of the impassables, and have a legend for the arrows, like, *Red Arrow Picture* "Indicates a path of assault" and *Green (or whatever color) Arrow Picture* "Indicates a path of bombardment".

Wall looks a lot better, but you could increase the shading on it somewhat. Like, more contrast between the light/dark sides.

I don't think I have many more suggestions for this map, other than on the Small Map some of the region text looks fuzzy compared to other examples that look sharper...some instances:--->Dornod (Fuzzy), Lhasa City (Fuzzy), Nyingchi (Fuzzy) ; Ulaan Bataar (Sharp), Chamdo (Sharp), Qinghai (Sharp)---etc.

Keep up the good work!

Okay new update, and some slight changes.

- Made the shadow on the Great Wall a tad darker
- Changed the outer glow to the text, and IMO looks clearer
- And a few very minor tweaks

1 - That is one of the things I have to remember how I did them, since I lost the original in my house fire.
2 - Nah it kinda looks gaudy that way.
3 - I thought of that to, but it would actually take up more room than necessary.

I just noticed something.

You say each free city Hong Kong, Macao, Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwan, and Chongoing Autodeploys +2

But on the map "Taiwan" is called "Taipei"
Also when you say Fujian and Taipei can bombard each other, you put it under the name "Taipei"
Is this a mistake?

Good spot, Boler!

Also, I like the arrows, but they're awfully blurry. Could you clean them up?

 Hmm... How did I miss that? Yea it's supposed to be Taipei not Taiwan.

Old man you need some glasses, they look fine to me (hmmm ... maybe I need NEW glasses). Anyone else think they are blurry?

Hi isaiah40,

I have to agree on what is said about the arrows, they are rather blurry. This might be because they have a much lighter outline than the rest of the map. Maybe if they had a darker outline like most of the things on this maps; mountains, trees territories, then I think they may look less blurred.

also I think the wall of china needs a little work. Your other territory barriers like the mountains and trees have shadows and black outlines. While the wall does not. To me the wall looks a little out of place on the map compared to your other impassable terrain.

Lastly the city stars you have on the map look a little thrown on. The rest of your map is great and fluent in theme. But the stars stand out to much for me. I think they need to be a of a more saturated colour scheme, as they are very light compared to everything else in the map, I also think they may need an outline of some sort or a dark glow.

This map is a excellent effort isaiah40, keep it up!

Okay I redid the arrows, Great Wall, renamed Taiwan in the free cities area of the legend to Taipei and subdued the capitals with a new color. So let me know what you think before I do the small.

The great wall and the arrows look fantastic now, really feel like part of the map. I am still not sold on the city stars though. They just don't feel like they are incorporated into the map. I am not really sure what it is but they are the only things that look out of place.

Hmmmm ... just a thought, maybe I can do like a city skyline view that is crumbling, falling apart due to the war. It might work and fit in with the theme as well. Any thoughts?

Perhaps, the cartoony drawing of the walls, mountains and wall seem to be a common theme. Perhaps something similar for the cities will work.

This.

Also, the two tiny windows on the ends of the Great Wall need to be outlined in black. Looking better and better!

Okay, I didn't do a cartoony type city outline, but I did tweak the stars a bit.

Hm, how about: try making the stars lighter & brighter. Give them a glow, like they're shining... but don't overdo it.

Some of the stars have different things done to them. Find them and let me know which ones you like the best.

None of the stars really stick out for me. Maybe if you just stick a thicker black outline around them then they will be more consistent with the theme of the map?

I definitely believe they are better, although perhaps a little bit darker. I am still not sure stars are the best approach, but that might just be my personal taste.

Maybe. I'm trying to stay at least somewhat true to Fractured America in style and theme ( thought the style is slightly different). So I'm thinking the stars will probably stay.

Fair enough, Except the stars I personally don't see any major concerns at this point. It is looking good. I may come back and nitpick this maps little details later, but for now it is pretty good.
