Sitters

Postby pascalleke on Thu May 26, 2011 6:04 am

since i am here on CC , time flies  , i always been wondering why not such a thing like putting sitters on ur account never was here , seems times are chancing and also some issues came up which brings me to this poll , always looking for a good discussion ;)

I am open to put any more poll options if they are reasonable ;)

Update : because wenn i add new poll options all the votes before are removed , i will put new ideas just here.

so for now we have 4 options :

1 . No sitter , so just the way we do it now
2 . 1 sitter
3 . more sitters ( 2 or more )
4. a system that puts in gamechat the turn is taken and by who ( if the turn is taken by a sitter)

A proper sitting feature is something we have targeted to look into for this 2011 year. :D

When the development begins on it, I'm sure we'll take into account the past suggestions in the suggestions forum. If you have any new insight, I encourage you to post them in the relevant suggestions topics so we can have everything in once place. :D

I suggest you remove your poll, improve its wording and or give more options.
I like being able to sit and having a sitter. I would not mind a sitterstool of sorts as long as it gives the same freedom of action as is now. I would mind any limitation like time to play before you may sit or amount of players that can sit for me. I do have friends. Those friends have lives. They are not online 24/7 just to sit for me or play their lives according to nice scedules so they need a sitter now! and i can only take their turn 23 hours before it ends because i will check back in 24...
enough reasons not to want anybody to mess with it, enough reasons to want to see something better implemented!

For me 2 sitters through a setting in my account would sound good , even with the experience i have on 4 years playing a game , but i realize there are some very important differences between that colonist of catan based game and CC so maybee there would be some problems also arising with this new feature ...

I think a sitting feature, should just note in gamechat that this is being done and by whom.
Not the "polite but not a requirement" that stands right now, that may make people not disclose.

Down side to this is when I find myself sitting several people and lots of games it's a pain to post in every single one. I post in most but skip/forget/get in a hurry in some of them.

Like today I sat turns in 11 accounts, took 340 turns and I just didn't feel like posting it in any of them. So I didn't.
This post was made by jefjef who should be on your ignore list.

if a sitter sytem would simply show you have been online in said game, without you having to do anything, that would help. However, we have a C&A case where there was meticulous and correct mention of babysitting.. So such 'abuse' (if it turns out that way) would not be stopped pascalleke.
I would still go for a more flexable system, so jefjef can still set 11 accounts on the drop of a hat, if he feels so inclined...
But i'd like one that registers such an event...

just an idea, and i am not even sure i like it myself.
What if you cannot sit in a game where you are a player in, not even a teamgame? Sure people could still dominate games by playing all the team, but it would be recorded and would thus be spotted more easely... that might work.
I would however like to be able to babysit for my teammates, when needed , because i know the gameplan, but it might help reduce the amount of 'unneeded' sitting.. maybe

i like that last idea myself for the best , there will be not more abuse by passwords and all people can see who has taken the turns , if there would be some kind of abuse the players can see it more easy and just report it .

If I'm in the middle of a team game and need a sitter, I would usually ask the teammate(s) first. Just makes sense to me. Don't think teammates should be forbidden.

How on earth did you get yourself into a situation where you needed to sit 11 accounts? Did all your pals go away on a standard germanic nuddy holiday and leave you holding the towels?

I'm genuinely confused by this...

Or are you advertising...'jef jef for hire...worn, used but a trier!' Are you being paid? That's the only reason I can possibly think why one would sit 11 seperate accounts.

I think it may be time to make account sitting and sharing your password against the rules. Yes it's unenforceable but so it appears are most violations. If your team loses the game because one of your members missed their turn, so be it. You will learn to pick better partners, especially in clan games. It's really not fair to join a game with players who you assume take their own turns to find out that a better player is taking the turns for them. Somebody misses their turn because of life and your team loses, big deal. You lost some games in CC, get over it. The real issue here is integrity. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard and not worry about the scoreboard so much. Due to a lack of integrity by so many players the scoreboard doesn't mean much anyway. I think recent and past history as well as already proven that.

I think it has gotten out of hand. The site is very strict about multiple accounts, and yet there are people "turn sitting" for members that haven't been around for months. What is that except legalised multiple account holding? (And I'm definitely not saying this as a way of pointing fingers at anyone in particular. It seems to be a common practise among all categories of CC players.) It really needs to be brought under control, either by being prohibited outright or by having some new and strict limits put on it.

Sitting should be a short term solution. If you sit for someone longer then say a month, you should stop accepting new games even from tournaments!
