Kewl, so clapper will give me the spanking I so richly deserve. I've been a naughty, naughty boy.

So doggy, want to start a thread up about mods then? This one is getting dragged off topic a fair bit, though is a healthy discussion I have a new love for olive oil now. Thank you bbs. Start the thread and drop me a link mate. Cheers

I believe i just admitted to not being a "forum heavyweight," but thanks for pointing that out.

You can think whatever you want, but the reality is that I have had this feeling towards CC moderators for the better part of my time here at this point, hence why I have so few posts. I only mention those threads because they are the most recent examples in a long line of inappropriate and embarrassing moderation by CC's administrators.

Thanks for your contribution, though....sure brought a lot to the table.

No offense, but you couldn't possibly have a clue about any (over)moderation apart from the stuff which has directly affected you or your buddies. It's the same whine as on every other site since it's hard to fathom what is or isn't done in the background. It's also very much impossible for moderators to appease the entire community.

Mojo would probably state that this is due to the moderation of the site. I'm not so sure...I personally believe it has more to do with that most clans have little interest in having posters join their ranks. I actually think that this is a very good point by Mr. C. I do, however, have a couple of questions.

First, aren't the hardcore clan players that you're referring to largely considered to be the cyber-jocks that BSS referred to? Wouldn't an influx of clan players-turned-frequent posters just result in a bunch of muscle flexing and dick swagging? Or are you suggesting "clan representatives" of sorts who don't play so much as they post their clan's collective opinions on GD matters?

Second, the hardcore clan players care about this game. A lot. To an unhealthy degree. Wouldn't their posts be met with mockery from the CC socialites? I'm just wondering if this might cause more problems than it would solve.

I couldn't disagree with you more. CC moderators have been heavy handed and partial for years, and you don't need to be some sort of insider to see that.

Hey General Mojo and Frop... we have a thread for this now. Let's move it on over there.*

Thanks.

* No, I didn't post this to be heavy-handed and I don't think it's over moderation. Multiple community members have asked for a separate thread. I'm acknowledging the wishes of the community. If you decide to continue your enlightened discussion here, I'm not going to ban you for it. But just know that other members wish the discussion to be removed to another thread.

Finally, and this is completely up to you and Mr. Changsha (who created this thread), because I don't want to derail any further, but if you would like to have a frank discussion about what moderators should and should not do, we can do so over pm or we can do so in this thread or another thread.

I am of course perfectly happy to have such a discussion in this thread.

General Mojo wrote:And yes, the gestapo-like presence of the cc mods has killed these forums. They are very much dead when compared to the content and posting community of when I first joined this website...

Without wanting to create a BpB civil war ;) , I'm afraid I disagree with mojo..at least to some extent. Part of the fun of posting here (at least for me) is that one does have to consider the rules, one does have to take into account that a post can get you banned, one does have to think carefully about posting something with regards to the likely moderator response. There is something quite delicious about posting something on the edge of accepted propriety: flaming and baiting but doing so quite indirectly and carefully..challenging the moderators to censure you, knowing that actually they really don't want to...assuming that in general you stay within the lines.

I'd be bored to tears in a forum where anything goes, the joy is, as I said, in stretching rules to their limit. My point is one needs the rules.

I think some of the posters mojo misses (and I miss them too) weren't prepared to see it in that way. And yes, GD is arguably a less enjoyable place to visit than formerly. But some of those excellent posters who took the view that 'If I can't say "f*ck your cunting mother" then I'm not going to write here anymore' (or if they can't spend their days challenging CC for that matter) did themselves a disservice. One can write rude, appalling stuff here, the trick is to not bully the weak, to remember that direct flames are rarely all that clever and that attacking the very fabric of the site (of which the moderators are a part) probably does have an overall negative effect on it. One doesn't want unthinking positivity, but the argument could be made that relentless negativity directed towards CC doesn't exactly help this forum either.

Finally, I think good new posters have arrived over the last couple of years. I wouldn't say GD is thriving, but that has more to do with the fact that while CC has its share of hardcore players, so few of them make the effort to try and write about CC engagingly. Mojo would probably state that this is due to the moderation of the site. I'm not so sure...I personally believe it has more to do with that most clans have little interest in having posters join their ranks. If clans are the future of the site (and they probably are), then clans should have members that are primarily posters..to help keep the site fresh. Few have done so at the top end, which is why I think GD is often terribly boring. If GD is about CC and CC is now about clans, and the top clans have few members either capable or willing to write engagingly, then it is not surprising that GD is often dull.

So I honestly don't blame the moderators for the fact that GD is often unreadable these days. I think they were at fault in the past..but the current group is in my view pretty good. I blame the fact that so few of CC's hardcore have any interest in writing about the game, the site or their clans in GD. And that has less to do with the moderators, and much more to do with the recruitment policies of many clans..that sees the ability to play as paramount, and ignores the fact that this site is about far more than just clan competitions. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the best players are often not the wittiest fellows around.

by george I think this is the best statement out of this WHOLE thread! Well done Mr.C! Oh do I sense you need a spanking from the women of TSM? ;)

I was enjoying this thread :(

Mr Changsha start another please :) I promise to request more patronising behaviour and spankings. To use more cute emoticons, and to be spineless and servile. Will that be good enough to get me treated like a bad boy.
