Not sure what you mean with "not in the sense we think of today". One example would be Pietro Aretino's "Postures" (1524)....porn with poetry. Technology has changed porn, in this case it was the printing press...but even then it was nothing new. You think modern man was the only one interested in sex?Darth Lestat wrote:true but not in the sense we think of today and those were called orgies and you were aloud to join. strip teases are a different story

Well done for accepting criticism well. Again, however, you're wrong. Ancient Greece was never a united nation as we think of it today. It was, however, made up of numerous city states or Polis with differing amounts of power who were intertwined through alliances, trade, wars and religion. There were many different political ideologies present. The republic in the platonic sense (espoused in Plato's 'The Republic') was developed too late to have a drastic effect on Athenian politics, and I believe when some of Plato's political ideas were put into practice in Syracuse they weren't met with approval.Darth Lestat wrote:oh yes Athens did have Democracy but they were more or less a Republic not just athens Greece.

The US is far from the best country in the world maybe the most powerful but a 60 year cold war which we were lucky enough to win did that not to mention aid of our allies but its stupid comments such as the one you just made is what makes me anti american i think its sad when you have your own citizens being Anti nationalcodeblue1018 wrote:I love when people from THIRD world countries bash the BEST country in the world, yes the USA! It's happy to see that the best country in the world, which when I have the money I will move away from, is staggering in education levels, which is essentially directing the future state of the country.codeblue1018 wrote:I love when people from THIRD world countries bash the BEST country in the world, yes the USA! i didnt trash anyone in fact i stated that i was american its our leaders that make me anti american its the collective intellegence of a Nation that put bush in office not once but twice. and the list goes on.codeblue1018 wrote:"Maybe the most powerful" THE most powerful. What I can't stand is the comment you just made. I would do anything for anyone, regardless of ethnicity, culture and race. The problem I have is we, THE UNITED STATES render aid to EVERYONE and people that recieve the aid burn AMERICAN flags. If it wasn't for the friendly USA, people from around the world would be in dire straits. So listen pal, you may have had bad encounters with americans, but let me say this, most are good dignified souls. REMEMBER that when you trash people who take care of YOU!
Since the budget for education is being cut to make way for more elaborate military designs, kids are no longer learning about how the US goverment but more importantly how the tax process works. So to them tax is nothing more than money you HAVE to pay. No idea where it goes. In the future, even now, there are efforts to push flat tax because these guys have no idea how the current system works (or they're rich pricks who like their money so much they feel the urge to wrap it around their dick and beat themselves with it) or to lower taxes. Thus the education budget once again gets lowered, and the children have no idea what to learn.juggernaut17 wrote:Dare to elaborate?unriggable wrote:It's happy to see that the best country in the world, which when I have the money I will move away from, is staggering in education levels, which is essentially directing the future state of the country.
