They did break the rules... they abused another player's account, which at the very least falls under "gross abuse of the game".

I think the point ljex is making, is though he personally doesn't have strong warm fuzzy feelings for blitz, he does feel that blitz wasn't treated fairly. He suggests that the moderators had the option to warn blitz rather than move straight to a 1month ban. Of course we don't know whether blitz had received a warning for the same thing in the past. I doubt it, but is possible. Though not probable.

I'm for everyone being treated the same. So if blitz was treated more harshly due to his prominence on site, and moderators wanting to set an example that everyone is treated equally, and in doing so abused blitz's chance at due process. Then kind of suxes doesn't it.

What they did was give him 2 steps on the scale of bans for one offense, granted 2 separate instances of the same offense but it was not like he was punished for the first before the second happened so this is part of my problem. This also signifies that he did not previously have a warning because they warned him for joining non tournament games for whoever the player was and then gave him 1 month for failing to sit the other games or whatever they called it. 1 i think many including the moderators were quick to judge and while he may have been guilty on both counts i think its an easier mistake to make than people think and that others would have done the same in his situation. Also why would he try to game the system like that, i have been to that level of points where farming games run your score up and it doesnt really matter that much if one person on your team is a few hundred points lower, that may give you 1 extra point in some of the games you play with them. Sure one could go through all that effort to increase the score and risk punishment or you could just set up a few more games and get them legally. Also beyond that it doesnt matter who your partners are that much as you basically do everything, it would be easier to find someone with that lower score who is willing to listen and then invite them instead.

With regards to C&A issues, we do what we can to handle cases that is within the rules. Not every case are exactly the same and we do take into account any small details that makes a case different from past similar reports which may affect how the way a current case can be handled.

I also believe that any C&A issue can be debated or argued about. Whether it be a simple multi report up to the any kind of violations you can think of, anyone can argue about it and disagree with the verdict. Whatever verdict we make, there will always be someone who will disagree with it. The ones who agree, usually stay silent and move on. The ones who don't, feel a need to voice out how they have been wronged and discuss their opinions of how they think the case should be handled according to them.

There are always new C&A reports made everyday and we do look into handling them as fairly and as neutral as possible. If there are any conflicting or personal issues from a certain mod, he steps away from the case and let others handle it. We do not play any favoritism to anyone nor judge anyone by reputation. We also keep out of any politics. If you did something wrong, whatever story or reason you did behind it, holds very little merit.

We have been very lenient on how some people come in the C&A forum to spam, troll, bait, flame, etc. whenever they need to make their presence felt. Almost, if not everyone, is guilty of posting some nonsense every now and then in the C&A. C&A is not the Off Topics, nor the General Discussion or the Suggestion Forum or a revival of the Flame Wars, but lately, some people are getting out of control. This is something I will have to think about on how to control these kind of posts.

As to some words that are being "accepted" and not, I just would like to say that the Community Guidelines are there on how one should use the game chat. Although trash talk is allowed, we will not encourage you to use any certain words to call names, swear or curse at one another. We may not generally police you in game chats but it does not mean we will officially tell you to call someone a certain word when you feel like it. Some of you may disagree with some offending words and some may not, let's just keep these major no-no words to a minimum as much as we can. The more we add words, the more we are moving closer in policing the game chat. Pretty soon, any swearing and cursing will be requested not to be allowed because it's objective is to offend. Bigoted and homophobic comments are not allowed. Let's leave it at that. The rest, let's take it on a case by case basis.

As for being inconsistent, I don't think we are. As I said, not every case is the same as what it would appear to be. We look at what the evidence presents and we base our verdict on that. We check if there are any violations committed and check the guidelines on what to do based from what violations have been done.

Well good heavens, I would hope you wouldn't think so. <smile> Don't take that the wrong way...but if you did think you were, well...

Sometimes though, it's hard to tell if you're inconsistent when you are a part of the process, if that makes sense.

Thanks king achillies for stopping by, and for you well thought out and measured words. Interesting reading, in particular your thoughts on creating naughty word lists. Makes sense, once you make a call on something you have to keep on calling it. Shock, horror, you don't actually believe that there are adults that use this site, that are able to make informed decisions with out someone spelling out the blatantly obvious?

Agree with you woody, sometimes is hard to have a clear perspective on something if one is up to ones neck in it.

Consistency or lack there of has been a constant theme in this thread. Though I don't think many if any folks seriously believe that moderators deliberately set out to be inconsistent.

Possibly a topic for another thread in a different forum. Please define - consistency, and not in culinary texture terms.

I have a sneaking suspicion that one persons idea of not clearly defined and inconsistent, is anothers version of minimalist less is more non meddlesome action.

I'm getting off topic, and starting to think I'm smart, both obvious signs of sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation = delusional behavior and grandiose pretension.

Good night.

I gotta chuckle at this, especially in light of recent events.

Mods are definitely ruin the forums sometimes, although I do agree with Numb Nuts that there are a few elitists kicking around who think they are the bee's knees. :D
