I like the blue sea :-$ At least for this map. While I like the green sea better by itself, it doesn't contrast enough with the green bonus areas in the East.

This looks just as good now as it did on day one! I can't see anything wrong with the graphics myself, But I'll take a closer look at it later.

The blue would work if it was a little lighter in eastern part of the Mediterranean. Other than that I think the green is fine.

I do like the blue one better. Looking terribly good with the green seas too though.

I can go with the majority on this. I like the Blue version too... just think than the Green version is darker and adds a more 'dramatic' feeling to the sea. And I actually like the blending with the green from the Orientis praefectura...

Here it is Natty. Seems strange, somehow. Must be the Sun that should be setting on the West...

I actually like it! When you said sunset I thought maybe that's something you could add? A red-yellow tone to the map in the southeast maybe??

The barbarian tribes bubbles needs some work! You could make them look much more interesting! After all they're starting positions so I don't see why they should look as bland as they do now!

I had a first idea of making them as a tribal tent, or something like that. Couldn't make it work though, barbarian Settlements and Outposts weren't completely unambiguous. This ended up to be the most practical, clear and understandable option in my opinion....

Well, the blue sea option doesn't seem so bad now, right? ;)

It doesn't look like it's made with care! It looks like something on the drawing board to illustrate the idea not the final product! You could keep the bubbles but the bubbles need to be more extravagant! not just a white bubble. It doesn't fit the map! Maybe a fortress border around the bubble or an image of one the tribes leaders inside the bubble?

As I said before, I like the way they look now. I suppose I could make them blend more with the 'barbarian background', but looking at it I still prefer the original version.....

Kabanellas, have I mentioned that I think this is one of the prettiest maps in the foundry just now. I keep coming back just to look at it, without having anything constructive to say.

Very very nice effort!
What do you know about map making, bitch?

How would making them blend in with the background make them look less bland :-s ? I think my suggestion with a tribal leader as the foreground is worth trying! It would go naturally with the game play! I don't see how white bubbles has got anything to do with tribes in the roman age so it's not as if there's already a great idea on how to make the bubbles fit in the map!

Thanks a lot Gimil, I really appreciate it :)

Gilli, I really want to avoid adding confusion to the map by introducing different figures of tribal leaders. Besides i need one and only one recognizable form that can be easily perceptible in the legend. The bubbles, as you call them, are commonly used on history books to describe the starting points of barbarian migrations/invasions. These representations are clusters of territory owned by their respective tribes that don't have a exactly defined border. (except maybe for the Sassanid empire)

Anyway, unless I see a big added value on changing the actual representation both in terms of game-play comprehension and aesthetic (or graphical) improvement, I will not change it.

P.s. I think the bubbles are fine and make good use of the space available.
