The price was $2 for whites, $1.50 for Asian-Americans, $1 for Latinos and Hispanics, 75 cents for blacks and 25 cents for Native Americans. Women received a 25-cent discount from the price for their race.
I applaud the Republican students at their fantastic idea. Hopefully it will get the racists to see how racist they are, and stop being racist.
This had nothing to do with Republican or Democrats. It had to do with UC California admission policies.
Beyond that, I tend to be opposed to most favoratism. I have been the "benefactor", but also the victim of such. I was once hired under consent decree --- and because "everybody knew" we were "not qualified"... we were treated accordingly. I have detailed elsewhere some of the stuff I had to deal with, not going to get into it here.
At some point, some things are just supposed to be competetive and merit-based. Sure, we all know that the kids of the wealthy and famous have some doors opened more readily, but its not really about race any longer. That is, racism exists, but there is just so much "equality" that can be forced.
Things are not equal, of course, but they never are for college.
