I have nothing new to say.
There haven't really been any new developments. 18 of 36 pages have been dominated by the drawn-out argument between William and Doom. In the end, they both agreed that they were both argumentative assholes and that the whole spat was basically about nothing, which is what I had already concluded 18 pages earlier, so I have nothing to add.
The only original thoughts I have had through this ordeal were on December 19th, before all this began. I've already shared those thoughts and didn't think it was necessary to rehash them, but for the record:

Well, I'll try. Keep in mind that there is very little to go on yet. But the tiny sliver of what is available I will try to analyze.
First, off, I'll ignore the confusion that zimmah started by misunderstanding Doom's use of the word "rollcall". While it did seem at the time like a scummy thing to do, I take note of the fact that zimmah is Dutch, and although his English is very good it's probably not perfect, so I'm quite ready to believe that the misunderstanding was accidental rather than deliberate.
There is something that struck me as possibly significant, a few pages back. If you recall, Victor passed out some cryptic hints, which some of us were trying to analyse for possible content. (Incidentally, now that I've studied a lot of FF VII screenshots, I pretty much agree with the majority: Red XIII does look like a dog, even though the game specs say he's a lion, and Dark Nation does look like a panther, even though the game specs say he's a guard dog. Obviously the geeks at SquareSoft spend too much time in front of their monitors and don't get out to the zoo very often.)
Anyway, that didn't really give us any firm conclusions about Victor, but at the end of it there's a bunch of responses from
chapcrap,
sg7, and
ghostly, all earnestly assuring us that they don't know anything about the game and don't really care. I find that just a little suspicious. I haven't played FF VII either, but in preparation for this game I read 2 plot synopsis, walkthroughs, character fansites (I now KNOW that I want to nail Tifa, if she ever takes off those stupid-looking army boots!) and various other supporting material. While I don't expect everyone to be as thorough, I think that nobody can be quite that cavalier without faking it. I'm going to have my eye on those three.
I also agree in most essentials with drunkmonkey's summary:
drunkmonkey wrote:Wow, so much to catch up on, yet...so little. The main points of interest seem to be VS being VS, the roleclaim/roll call fiasco, Doom's motive behind the roll call, violet, and wildwilliam.
1) I personally think VS's play has to be taken with a grain of salt. It seems to be normal D1 play for him, with lots of flavor posts but little substance. Could be scummy, but too WIFOM to make a call at this point.
2) Zimmah's misunderstanding caused a great deal of confusion, but I guess I understand it on his part. I think the biggest tell to come out of that was ghostly's play. He immediately jumped behind zimmah, but then made a few contradicting posts which were just...off. Not to mention he's from the US, and should have had no trouble understanding what "roll call" means. After he managed to back out of that, he immediately threw an FOS on Doom and newguy for simply stating that he was acting fishy (sort of a mini-OMGUS). Then he disappeared for 11 days, popped in to wish happy holidays, and hasn't been heard from since.
3) Starting a roll call discussion does not mean DoomYoshi is town. Either side could start that discussion. That's it, nothing more. I really dislike the practice of immediately responding to a discussion starter with suspicion, as it will eventually lead to no more discussion starters.
4) VioIet is one of many inactives. She claims to be busy, but at least she's given somewhat of a response. Small FOS, but I don't think it's the best case.
5) Wildwilliam is probably the #2 case in my eyes right now. He brushed off a legit case, then when called on it, came out guns-blazing with a OMGUS on Doom. Then again, he was called out for not giving a good response, so I don't think we can hang him for being thorough in his next response. If he hadn't capped it off with a vote on Doom, it probably wouldn't have drawn as much attention from me.
There was a lot to catch up on, and I may have missed some of it when I got around to summarizing. But I think ghostly acted the most scummy, from my reasons in #2.
vote ghostly
As I said, I agree with dm on most essentials, except unlike him I don't think it's enough to justify voting for anyone. In games, as in real life, I'm cautious, and I'm not going to suggest lynching anyone based on the flimsy evidence that we've seen.
