It just depends what time of day you are on, but I doubt there are more than 20-30 waiting for players at once. They fill quickly.

If you want some, you can make your own.

For the most part there is only a small group of players who play speed games often. Making your own games or going into live chat to look for players is the only sure fire way to get a game going that you want to play. The game will fill up quickly you just got to get it started.

You have to realize that not all premium players online are willing to play speedgames, and that if a player is playing, he's less likely to also have a game waiting for players. Add to that the fact that a number of players will join games rather then create them to guarantee that they can start playing immediately. Given all that, 50 games waiting for players seems a lot to me.

Plus, with splitting of speed game times i'm assuming theres even more variation in the games now then there used to be? so if your looking specifically for 5 min games, there will likely be less of those then there used to be.

There are actually a large number of more speed games than there use to be, because of the Speed Game Revamp update.

For instance, take a look at the data regarding TOTAL Number of Speed Games... from November (before the update), December (update came mid-way through the month), and January (first full month post update).

As others have pointed out, games may not be up and waiting as long as they use to be because of the varying time-limits, but there certainly are a lot more in total!

Always interesting to see how visual information can be manipulated. Looking at the numbers, it seems about an 11% increase, rather then the doubling suggested by glancing at the length of the bars.

And since those games are now divided over 5 different types, it seems likely to me that if you're actually interested in 5 minutes games, the number of games available to you has actually shrunk.

I would say that this is largely because games end faster and thus more get filled by the same people faster afterwards. I doubt the number of different maps/settings combos has changed very much over the last 3 months. Also as MichelSableheart said it is interesting to see the manipulation of the graphs by not starting at zero, i to at first glance thought they doubled over a one month period.

While there may be some graph manipulation, I would argue against the fact that the same speed players played many more games. Most of the people who are playing speed a lot would play multiple games at once. With a shortened time frame for turns, they either kept the same system or played less games at once and the same amount overall. I doubt your theory is what occurred.

I will say, that I greatly increased the number of speed games that I play since the revamp.

It's common to edit graphs based on expected # range. If you expect anywhere from 40-60k why would you start it from zero?

At work here we largely do this w graphs based on anticipated number feedback.

Blame Excel for the graph manipulation, it did it all automatically! It sets the range automatically, and I didn't bother changing it!

As some other mentioned before, it depends on your time zone. Usually at night in Pacific Time there are not a lot of speed games up.
