I don't get why Progressives have such a big problem with voter-ID laws. I use Progressives here and not Democrats because the issue of showing ID to vote carries 70-80% support (obviously the majority of Democrats agree), and 18% is the estimate for how many people identify as Progressive. In states where this was recently made law, minority voters actually increased.

Only when looked at through the lens of dividing people based on hate does it start to make sense.

I've voted in every election I could since 1992. I think we owe it to all those who've sacrificed for us to have that right, to participate and be engaged in the issues.

I vote in almost every election (not School Board because I don't have children in school yet). And I've seen my votes "count" (in the latest gubenatorial election in New Jersey for example).

I vote early and often. Or at least, as often as they'll pay me to do it.

yup. and the outcome was apparently: if you pay a tax here, you get full blown citizenship w/bennies.

Um... no, you actually don't. Jonesy probably pays US and state income taxes and he most certainly pays sales taxes (although, in the defense of the US, if I go buy some crap in England, I have to pay VAT).

Then give that man 10% of one vote. It's only fair.

yah, i was being facetious. I can put it correctly though.

If you are gonna work in another country, you should expect to pay the taxes of that country. If you are not a citizen of that country, you should not expect to be able to vote for political elections.

No longer. I've only voted twice locally, and in one presidential election. I joke-voted in the last presidential one. But I choose to abstain from voting now because I can't in good conscience continue to support such a farce, and the cost v. payoff of trying to educate others isn't worth my precious time. I'm too busy to get involved in political squabbling.

I voted in the last presidential election's first round, but on the second round I couldn't get to the voting place because of a sprained ankle.
