Unless it takes literally all that energy to get here, and once they arrive they're totally wiped out and need to be nursed back to health

What do we have that they would want?

Space? The space is full of space.
And resources? Earth has nothing valuable. Anything that can be found in earth can be found all around the universe abundantly, and it's surely easier to go mine whatever they need from a lifeless planet than ours.
Only thing aliens could want from us would be biological resources - maybe they'd want to use us for slaves. But then again, it would be much easier for them to breed their own slaves, rather than put huge amount of resources in fighting a war in some distant planet just to gather us inferior species...army of nobunaga wrote: most theoretical physicists say this.

god fucking damnit... A- blood type. I'm sad to be left out of Uncle Saxi's Earth Survival Force.

Hydrogen is plentiful in the universe.

On earliest indicator that contact were imminent I would disperse the specimen population to several holding arenas around the world. Conventional forces could then engage the invading aliens as long as manpower allowed. Assuming submerged SSBNs survived the initial assault- and cnce the Earth had been adequately depopulated of the bulk of humanity - I would use SLBMs to destroy the major concentrations of resources which G2 indicated the aliens wanted (gold mines?). The aliens would eventually depart and the specimen population could begin the process of repopulating the planet at a level more manageable given the diminished resources.

It's estimated as the 3rd most common element in our galaxy.
