That was wonderful!

I suggest stronger diplomatic relations with any country that has a MILF as Prime Minister!

"There! Do you all feel better now? Good. Now do as you're told. Jesus, I don't know how George kept you all in line."

Nice to see originality of approach, careful planning of speech and delivery of cogent, clear, messages are still amongst those strong points for which the recent American Presidents are so justly famous for.

The unsettling part about this is how he uses the pensive pause and murmur prior to delivering the line, as though he's searching for the right metaphor to use and then - voila! - stumbles upon it. Obviously it's a well-rehearsed empty compliment but the expert, Oscar-worthy delivery required to make it look natural is creepy once one realizes it's just acting.

Also, the delighted smile that Prime Minister Gillard flashes when she learns she's America's greatest ally is so naively adorable. Oh honey, if only you knew ...

Ahhh, is that the reason she suddenly turns on the lights. I thought her vibrator had just switched on.

Are politicians that naive?

How would you describe the general profile of a politician in a representative democracy (e.g. US, UK, Germany, Sweden, etc.)?

We have so many closest allies b/c Ole Barry knows how to work those phones. Remember that improved diplomacy was a huge ingredient of hope and change.

I wonder what the Australian PM says to the president when he's in her country?

"Mates, the United States is one of our strongest allies."

or

"Mates, to use a rugby analogy, the United States is like the All Blacks."

Or maybe she wouldn't use that last one.

Open Mic

Obama to Medvedev: "Look like you're negotiating with me long enough for me to get through the election, then I'll back down and you can have your way."

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/20 ... ?hpt=hp_t3

Times there Were't an Open Mic?

Obama to AT&T in 2008: "Bear with me, I need to look like I'm opposed to FISA long enough to get elected - but you don't have anything to worry about."

Obama to Collin Powell in 2008: "This closing Guantanamo Bay thing - it's just for all my hippy supporters. Just endorse me because, between us, it'll never really happen."

Obama to Lockheed-Martin in 2008: "LOL - pull out of Afghanistan? You have nothing to worry about. I'm just saying that to get through the election. If you sign the check, we'll be there through my whole first term, trust me."

Obama to Goldman Sachs in 2009/2010: "I'm going to make a big show about regulating your shit, but I'll hire your pre-approved people to work in the SEC if you just throw some money my way and ignore the rhetoric."

Obama to the Catholic Church in 2012: "I need to show that I'm serious about womens' rights, so you might not like what I'm saying. But I will definitely exempt you from the Affordable Care Act."

Agree with the first statement. Second statement - JMO, but I think it was probably more of a backfire and retreat and political maneuvering once the shizzle hit the fan.
