There is no doubt rape is terrible and has a horrific mental effect lasting an entire persons life but that person is still capable of falling in love, of having fun and eventually maybe even being happy with their life. It is a terrible thing for anyone to suffer, but to say it is worse than death to me belittles the inner strength that so many women (and men) show in the way they live their lives after such events.

But that depends highly on the individual. Many women (and men) commit suicide post rape. In that case, there might not be much distinction. Also, it matters whether you think death is the ultimate end or just another stage in life (a religious question).

A lot of groups who deal with rape talk about people who have been raped as "survivors of rape". That's not a casual throw away term. Way apart from the people who are raped and killed, there are many who suffer long term issues- PTSD, clinical depression, etc.

Surviving rape isn't simply about being alive after the incident.

In my experience, cable installers often show up late and it is an experience I have spoken to 7 other people about (please PM me for signed affidavits from each of them attesting to this fact) and they have indicated they have also experienced it, however, I acknowledge that my sample set may not be accurate for scientific verification of this observation.

It kind of sounds like you're implying that the worst part about rape is that it makes girls "clingy" and "unfit" for a relationship which is inconvenient for you.

And the whole part about being "ruined", that just brings out a whole world of unfortunate implications... there are some parts of the world where rape victims are stoned to death because they are considered "ruined"... and even in civilized societies, all too often being raped carries a stigma of being "damaged goods"... I don't think they would let me near them if I wasn't completely understanding of their situation.
