Prisoner Almost Beats Obama for West Virginia Nomination

Postby saxitoxin on Tue May 08, 2012 11:32 pm

West Virginia Democrats almost chose federal inmate Keith Judd to receive the state's Democrat National Convention delegates today.

Judd is a practicing Rastafarian who is serving a 17 year prison sentence at Federal Correctional Institution - Texarkana. He previously ran for President in 2008, as well as Governor of New Mexico and a variety of other offices and once proclaimed himself the Emperor of Mexico. He is a former bandsman in the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Machinist's Union. He claims his father designed the atom bomb, a claim unsupported by mainstream history.

Judd was the only person to oppose Obama in the Democrat Party primary and received 40% of the vote in a close fought race in the heavily Democratic state of 2 million. As a result, Judd will be entitled to appoint delegates to the Democrat National Convention.

Final results now show Judd did better than expected, blasting through early estimates that he'd get 40% of the vote to score an impressive 41% of the vote - including sweeping 10 counties of West Virginia.

Senator Manchin, the state's Democrat Party senator, has refused to answer questions about for whom he voted, leading to speculation he was one of those who voted for Judd.

According to the Secretary of State's website, Judd did best in Mingo County, where he pulverized Obama, scoring more than 62% of the vote.

Mingo County has an illustrious history:

Mingo County is the newest county in the state, formed by an act of the state legislature in 1895 from parts of Logan County. Its founding was related to a legal protest by a moonshiner, who claimed that the Logan County Court that had found him guilty did not have jurisdiction over his case, because his moonshine still was actually located in Lincoln County. A land survey was taken and discovered that the defendant was correct. The charges were then refiled in Lincoln County court. Although the moonshiner was ultimately found guilty of his crime, the state legislature was made aware of the situation and determined that Logan County was too large for the expeditious administration of justice and decided to create a new county, called Mingo. The county was named in honor of the Mingo Native American tribe, which had been the earliest known settlers of the region.

I find this story hilarious. That the moderate democrats in WV think Obama is so bad and so far left that they would literally vote for a convict over him is awesome. It brings new meaning to the phrase "anybody but Obama".

This is what West Virginians are saying in the comments section at the Charleston Gazette ...

-This is a huge embarrassment for the state. As if we already didn't have a reputation of being ignorant.

-Voting for a convicted criminal instead of voting for a non-convicted criminal. I don't see what the uproar is.

-It couldn't possibly be the fact Obama is one of the worst Presidents we have had in recent history. It has to be dumb hillbillies.

-West Virginians always proud to show the rest of the country how ignorant we can be.

-this state is a sad embarassment

-We are a national laughing stock and no one cares.

-Coal is WV, WV is coal. Don't like it? Then move and go away. I'm tired of hearing how tourism has more jobs than coal. Most of those people are flipping burgers with low wages.I'm proud of WV for standing up to Obama.

-America gets yet another opportunity to laugh at West Virginia.

-We are being eviscerated in the national media. This is the number one most read and commented story on the Washington Post website.

-I think an important point was not even brought up. There were over 203,000 ballots cast. Judd got 72,000 votes Obama got 105,000 votes. That means around 30,000 people didn't even bother to cast a vote for either candidate!

In related news from West Virginia ...

Lincoln County Has First Unrigged Election

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- On Tuesday, Lincoln County voters experienced what may have been a first in the politically contentious county.

An apparently clean election.

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant said state election officials have been in Lincoln County for months helping local election officials get ready for the primary election. The county's 2010 primary was marred by an election fraud scheme that eventually forced two elected officials to resign their positions and may end with more federal indictments.

Former Lincoln County sheriff Jerry Bowman and former county clerk Donald Whitten pleaded guilty to federal charges for their part in a plot to rig the 2010 primary by stuffing the ballot box with illegally obtained absentee ballots. Both men resigned their positions as part of their plea agreements.

Tennant said Wednesday that Gue and his staff have worked hard to make sure the 2012 election was above-board and done by the book.

I find it hilarious that you consider Obama "so far left".

"Bad" may be true, but "so far left"? Really?

Incompetence and corruption, and the ability to recognize it, isn't a Left/Right issue.
