Good point. When I first started on CC all I did was troll jefjef. I've since changed my business model and now contribute in a meaningful way, as well.

For awhile I updated my brand to be a 22 year old American fraternity member, but then introduced "throwback" Saxi (my current brand imaging).

Basically, I've made my brand relevant to changing consumer conditions.

This is what Facebook will need to do.

Natty has also updated his brand. For awhile he used to be a carefree mapmaker everyone loved. For the last few months, though, he's been trying to market himself as a PMS'ing 45-year old mom trying to do the seductive MILF thing with john9blue and/or gillpig. I'm not sure how that's effected his share price, but I hear market research reports the new imaging has been well received by his core demographic/psychographic.

So you're saying we need a CC stock market? Interesting.

TGD, lets pretend there already is one, and lets call it Premium Risk Investment Stock Option Network, Sold Only (to) Approved Persons (PRISON SOAP for short).

I just bought 5 shares in you.

How many other people do you want to get in you? And what people don't you want to get in you? And what are your feelings about liquidity?

I thought about getting in TGD but I wasn't satisfied with the spread.

Business rule number 1 (well, one of them anyway)(actually rule number one of business is: Stay in business, but whatever):
If you aren't the consumer, you are the product.

What Facebook has done brilliantly is to take its users and turn them into revenue by being able to match them to advertisers better than anyone else ever has. Each Facebook user is worth roughly $4.84 to Facebook, X 900 million = a metric fuck-ton of revenue potential. Facebook has arguably the largest, most accurate, and most complete user information database that has ever existed...because the 'product' is the one entering the information and keeping it current. As long as they can do that coupled with the fact that companies like Zynga represent 12%-14% of their total revenue (holy shit Farmville makes a lot of money), Facebook will be fine for years to come. And wait until the government figures out how to mine that data....ugh.

anyway.

No, I won't be buying FB shares.

Well, would you look at that. Anyone who bought at $38 and held it for a couple hours, could have come out with a quick 10% profit (less fees, and commissions).

Someone should give me a couple million to play with.

Interesting to see the extent to which the banks propped-up the sales. Good article this. Says it all really.

I love how natty's beef with Facetbook is that they don't respect people's privacy. You know, the people are 100% willing when they sign up for the site. I guess if you want to excuse personal responsiblity you can blame Facetbook, but I blame the people. I remember watching a documentary about Facetbook on MSNBC and some people were complaining about the invasion of their privacy.

f*ck, you willingly signed up for it, you'll pay the fucking consequences and like it.

Also, as per buying shares, I would only buy for the short term. Most websites don't have a long life and I really think Facebook is on the down trend overall, though they could make some bold moves in the future (not sure what, but they need to save their ass from becoming obsolete from future competitors).

Curses!

Google and Yahoo are definitely more flexible, for what it's worth.

Nope, that's only half of it. They also support CISPA and other evil stuff.
Luckily, facespace will probably die out in a few years once people get over the novelty factor and/or the next internet fad replaces it, just like facebook itself replaced myspace.

THey've been trying to come up with a way for Facebook to make money since I can remember. Everybody hates internet ads and they want to be cool, not hated.

Nobody is gonna pay you to use facebook either with all the free options.

Google is quite different. I remember how I had totally given up on search sites, so easy to tamper with. You never found anything good in search sites like altavista, yahoo. I remember I had started using directories instead, until something pointed me to google. I couldn't believe it.

I had a good feeling about googles ipo but i was totally broke back then, and just kept looking how google hit 200,300,400. And to be honest after the .com bubble I would have been afraid to invest in it anyway.

To me, it looks like support came in at 38. This is a painted chart, with guarantees that FB would not close lower than 38 on it's first trading day.

The stock might go up, but you can't trust the stock price or the company.
