If by example of a deflection, you mean an example of your history of biased posting/trolling..well...I was not asked, I merely donated, as I felt it was my personal responsibility to do so.

Im a giver.

Actually, both are pretty ridiculous in my opinion, but if this thread is fun for ya...than by all means enjoy.

I think the teachers actions were fully ridiculous, but that any attempt to use this example to equate our entire educational system to her, even more so. Perhaps we should post a few million hours of teachers earning meager livings working very hard, and doing a great job of teaching millions of students, but that wouldn't be too flashy, and wouldn't really serve any purpose would it?

Nice catch though...I rescinded that post very quickly as you can see.....I was deleting and editing it while you quoted it...for the record.

Here's the thing- teachers have a brutal job. They're also human. They f*ck up- dealing with a class of thirty kids is horrible. Especially when one or two want to make you angry every class.

You can call me whatever you want for sharing a video in the forum about how many teachers brainwash children. I don't know why you would originally pass over condemning the brainwashing in order to find some problems with the poster sharing the brainwashing, but I suspect it is related to the reason why the teacher brainwashes students in the first place.

Im not calling you anything, but your video simply shows one teacher, and in no way says anything about how many teachers brainwash children.

Maybe theres one other, maybe there are millions of others, but certainly that one video, is not evidence of anything except the one case, unless you are perhaps suggesting, she is a clone that all teachers are based on, in which case, I do agree...you...I mean we...have a problem.

They can also be intentionally trying to influence children politically, regardless of the intelligence level of the teachers.

And about your "teachers have a brutal job" comment....I wish I had 3 months every summer off work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, and on their awesome salary I think all of them go to figi....and arent working summer jobs to try and survive and continue teaching.

Further, you can easily take every summer off, and still make more than almost every public teacher in the country. I suspect all.

You of course wont be able to do the job you love trying to make a world a better place, and helping generations of younger people get an edge on life...but...some people are just better than others and give of themselves, while some know nothing but taking for themselves...

In any case, if you don't realize the ridiculousness of arguing that teachers are paid too much in this country, with our cost of living, I think another meet with your math teacher over the summer with private classes would be in order.....they certainly could use the extra income...

I do agree that some do go too far teaching their personal beliefs, and some even try to impart religious views on students, even at the cost of teaching actual science....in some cases, it is truly pathetic, but in general, Id suggest most teachers are pretty good, and we should be thankful anyone is willing to do the job at this point.

There are others, of course. I had 3 of them myself (also in the original post) and I was initially hoping other people would contribute their experiences if any with liberal teachers pushing their politics on students.

About there being many more liberal teachers who impose their views....let me ask you. Do you think the Academic Institutions in America are dominated by Conservatives, Liberals, or if it's about even? How about teachers unions?

Hint - It has been confirmed, over and over again, that schools are by far the most homogeneous place for Liberals, and children who are forced by law to be in school are among the most impressionable. The opportunity for brainwashing is too easy to pass up for many teachers. These days, many children in public school spend more time with their teachers than they do their parents.

By their own description, 72 percent of those teaching at American universities and colleges are liberal and 15 percent are conservative, says the study being published this week. The imbalance is almost as striking in partisan terms, with 50 percent of the faculty members surveyed identifying themselves as Democrats and 11 percent as Republicans.

College faculties, long assumed to be a liberal bastion, lean further to the left than even the most conspiratorial conservatives might have imagined, a new study says.

The disparity is even more pronounced at the most elite schools, where, according to the study, 87 percent of faculty are liberal and 13 percent are conservative.

"What's most striking is how few conservatives there are in any field," said Robert Lichter, a professor at George Mason University and a co-author of the study. "There was no field we studied in which there were more conservatives than liberals or more Republicans than Democrats. It's a very homogenous environment, not just in the places you'd expect to be dominated by liberals."

The findings, by Lichter and fellow political science professors Stanley Rothman of Smith College and Neil Nevitte of the University of Toronto, are based on a survey of 1,643 full-time faculty at 183 four-year schools.

Geez, look at you go! I just responded to the word "brutal". I didn't say anything about money, doing what they love etc. Why do you put all that crap in my mouth?

As an aside, would you also agree that while our education results continue to slide, it is likely that we have less and less of the good teachers, whilst more and more of the bad teachers?

Education is going in the wrong direction, as the results show, and it has been going in the wrong direction ever since the government got involved and took over. The dumbing down is real, and this thread is shedding a bit of light on some of the reasons why.

You were the one that implied that having three months off, meant it could not be brutal, which is even more ridiculous. Further, payment very much factors into determining the brutality of a job, as you imply having off three months does, so it is very much vital to the discussion. If three months off means its not a brutal job, than getting paid too little certainly does make it brutal....certainly if we quadrupled their salary, I do not believe anyone would call it a brutal occupation whatsoever. Still, it could be brutal, but when compensated for a job fairly, or overly, the brutality is much less overall. Most of what makes a brutal occupation a brutal occupation, is the fact that the compensation is too little.

More importantly, it would be very much better for the teachers and the students if they did not have a full three months off, but the American public is too stupid and not caring to give up their vacations. Almost all studies show smaller breaks are far more useful and better for continuing learning, but the conservatives, fight such change rather passionately...by definition. Further, it would then cost more money to be taking away the summer work that most teachers get, and we cant have that now, can we.

As far as assuming your so called education results are a result of less and less good teachers, and more of the bad, Id say no, and suggest that you suggesting that must be the reason, is certainly an example of dumbing down.

There are certainly many theories one can present as to why educational results are lower, and a truly educated person, wouldn't ever be so naive to pin it on one variable only, with absolutely no proof of it at all.....while....you seem fully willing to do that it.

Again, its more funny than surprising, so no need to apologize.

Again I must suggest that had the teacher been anti Obama, and the kid had been an Obama supporter, Phattys thread would have been pointing out that very thing instead....but thats just based on a wealth of data easily attained in our forum titles.

That's not true. Your assumptions really throw you off your game. Tell you what, find some Conservative professors who are trying to bully students into their way of thinking and I will make a comment on it. Good luck!

Im not being a coward...Im being thorough. In my opinion, your entire posting history is an example that you take issues and so wildly transform them to your position that my guess that you'd transform this one too was perfectly valid.

Quite frankly...I think you know it too. ;)

Also I never stuck up for this teacher...per se...I even voted yes too. :D I repeatedly pointed out it was ridiculous. I simply went on to point out that your conclusions based on this one example were also ridiculous. My point was never about this one teacher, but that you basing your entire theory of our entire educational system based on this one example, was...as I said before....uneducated.

yeah, you searched my name and posted the results. REAL thorough pal!

I offered to address anything you wanted to bring up. You made a joke. That's a pass from you.

It's okay, I have made that offer numerous times. Nobody has ever taken me up on it. Probably because it's so easy and they aren't one bit full of shit.

Here are some similar answers from the past
"Phatscotty, it's so easy to prove you are lying about a million things"
"post one then"
"well, there are just so many...."
"pick ONE!"
"I don't want to waste my time"

I view them ALL as compliments. Take the challenge dewd. You have more respect from me than most libs. That isn't saying a lot, but the truth is you only degenerate to name calling about 80% of the time, whereas the rest of your enlightened and educated like-mindeds skip the issue and name call 96-100% of the time (Natty is the champ).

You claim they are not full of shit, but I have before and am now claiming they are. I have directly claimed your conclusion based on this very example in this thread is as you say, completely full of shit and will go further as to say devoid of any real thought. While many might consider all of your posts to be a joke, I truly did not only mean it as a joke. It is real evidence, that you construe all threads based on every story and misrepresent them, sometimes wildly, and always to your point of view. I feel every nearly every title itself proves my point conclusively, especially when viewed in masse.

The challenge has already been answered and won, and you don't even realize it. My point is that your conclusions based on your supposed threads are simply wrong, or at the very least, completely overstated, and always biased towards your political opinion.

You however, are the one that glosses over my more direct posts, and instead waste time on these sub-discussions maybe assuming I don't realize it, but am actually laughing every time. And its ok, because as I said, so many times....its just ffn fun at this point.

I admit, I do not post subjects that do not interest me. You got me there

I happen to have some evidence that my threads are very much in the mainstream, and possibly even more so than anybody else.

And my opinion is called, my opinion, and in my opinion, your opinions, were based on incorrect assessment of your evidence as I have pointed out many times before and as I have in this one, that shows this one example and then you going on to suggesting that this one example must explain why our entire educational system is supposedly broken. I pointed out many reasons this wild speculation was just that.

As far as derailing, that was all you. Again, feel free to read your thread for the evidence.
